10 Home Office Tools That You Can’t Live Without

The ability to work from home has become the new standard. And if you’re one of the millions of people who work from home, you’ll need specific gear to help you be more productive and effective. After all, it is easy to get distracted with your work if your space is cluttered.

Some accessories can help you become more productive when you have them on your desks.  There are different types of home office accessories designed to address different needs.

You can add a pot of plants to make your desk more active if you are the type that likes to break up the sterility of their workspace. Can’t function without some caffeine? Have an insulated travel mug nearby so you can sip hot coffee when you need it—having trouble remembering schedules? Set your schedule in a desk calendar, look at it before starting your day, and plan accordingly.

There are so many home office accessories you can use to help you keep focused, organised, and productive. Here are some of them:

A Little Pot of Greens

A study conducted by psychologist and founding director of Exeter Craig Knight concludes that workers with personalised workspaces are 25% more productive than sterile spaces.  So, to break up the monotony and make your setup feel less sterile, don’t be scared to integrate a little amount of greenery into your environment.

A Steel Travel Mug

Several materials are used to make travel mugs. If you are a coffee addict, though, you should choose one made of metal because it is the best insulator and will keep your coffee hot for hours. This will save you time going back and forth to the kitchen to get a fresh cup of hot, steaming coffee.

An Ergonomic Office Chair

If you are working with a make-shift office setup, that chair you dragged in from the kitchen might not be able to provide the proper support as your workplace’s chair. Investing in an ergonomic office chair will not only prevent lower back pain from sitting for hours with an improper posture, but it will also make you feel less tired and have enough energy to stay focused on your work.

Seat Cushion

If you can’t afford to buy an ergonomic office chair yet, a seat cushion might be able to offer some relief. Sitting down on a regular chair to work for several hours can be uncomfortable because the increased compression load to the spine results in pain in the lower back. You can benefit from specialised seat cushions that can reduce compression in the spine to help alleviate pain in your back.

Desk Organiser

Clutter in your workspace not only makes you lose focus, but you might also spend more time locating important items when you need them. Have desk organisers in your workspace to help you organise the items on your desk. For example, drawer organisers can help you organise the contents of your drawers. Organise your documents with the help of paper trays. Having trouble locating clips, staple wires, pens, scissors, and other small items? Arrange them neatly in a desk organiser and set them up near you to make locating things easy.

Keyboard Cover

Do you easily get distracted by any noise? A silicone keyboard cover can help minimise the sound of your keyboard when you type to help you maintain focus while working. It can also serve to protect your keyboard from beverage spills and crumbs from the pastry you were munching on earlier.

Stress Balls

Working for long hours can become stressful. Having something handy to relieve your stress can help increase your productivity levels. Items such as stress balls or small puzzles can help you calm down in stressful situations and stay focused on your work.

Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

Plugging in a wireless keyboard and mouse is essential for any workspace. The absence of cables to help you declutter your space. If you have the extra budget, get an ergonomic mouse that will offer additional support to your wrist and reduce fatigue.

Vertical Phone Charger

Do you miss important pop-up notifications on your phone because you didn’t notice it light up while it was charging? Get yourself a vertical phone charger that will allow you to charge your phone without taking up too much space. You will also be able to read the notifications on your phone while it is charging.

Posture Belt

Sitting on a chair for a long time can cause pain in your back. This is because your core muscles, the muscles in your abdomen that support your back and spine and keep you stabilised, are working very hard to keep you upright. A good posture belt can help relieve pain from both the upper and lower back. When pain is alleviated, you can focus on your work rather than on the pain in your back.

These tools serve as both a necessity and a nice addition to your home office setup. They can provide different benefits that can increase your productivity and make working from home a little enjoyable.
