3 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Natural Gemstone Jewelry for Your Loved One

Did you know that 58 percent of women prefer to receive jewelry as a gift?

If you’re in the market for a gift for your partner, looking into natural gemstone jewelry will not only make your partner happy but will also set you apart from every other person who simply gifts sterling silver jewelry or gold jewelry.

But how do you get started? Read on and we’ll explain it all to you!

1) Choose the Shape First

After looking at the type of jewelry that your partner wears, you should have a pretty good idea of the type of jewelry she wears.

When choosing a gemstone, you’ll usually have the option to choose between the following cuts:

  • Round
  • Emerald
  • Heart
  • Pear
  • Radiant

There are also a few others that you may not have heard of like Cushion or Marquise.

2) Choose the Gemstone

Now for the hard part! You have to decide which gemstone fits your partner best.

There are a few different ways to choose what to get, too. You could go off the gemstone that her birthday falls under, or you could go with a color that you or she likes.

A few of the options to choose from are:

  • Diamond
  • Emerald
  • Ruby
  • Sapphire
  • Black diamond
  • Amethyst
  • Citrine
  • Topaz
  • Garnet
  • Onyx

Each one of these gemstones has a natural color specific to its name. Click for more options here.

3) Understand How It Was Created

With gemstones, you have to be educated about how they are created (or can be created) before you decide to choose one.

The only two differences between a natural gemstone vs. lab-created gemstones are where they are created. Yup, you guessed it: A lab vs. the earth. The other is the price.

Typically, lab-created gemstones are much cheaper because they are not considered to be as rare. For example, you can find a one-carat round diamond created in a lab that will cost around $1,400, while natural diamonds run about $8,000.

It can be pretty difficult to actually see a difference between the two whether it is two diamonds, two emeralds, or two garnets. Since they have the same properties, they should ultimately test the same way. And for that much of a difference in price, you may want to lean toward a lab-created gemstone for your partner!

Choosing a Natural Gemstone for Your Partner

Picking out jewelry, especially a natural gemstone, can be a difficult task. With so many options out there, how do you know which one is right for your partner? And how do you know they’ll actually like the gift?

With this guide, you should have a better idea of the details of some of the most popular beautiful natural gemstones, and a better idea of how to choose the right one.

Whether you choose Topaz or Emerald, lab-created or natural, it’s hard to go wrong. And your partner will love it!
