4 Tips for Shopping During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Life has indeed changed so much for the world because of the pandemic. As we adapt to the new normal, you’ve probably seen that even the simplest tasks must be done with precaution to ensure that you keep yourself free from the virus.

And although there are things that we can’t do anymore right now like watching movies at a cinema or going to bars for a drink, there are still some activities we can’t avoid.

Since food is essential, we can never really avoid grocery shopping completely. And as much as online deliveries are available, the experience to purchase our own food from supermarkets is so much better because you get to personally pick the items that you want.

Here are some useful tips for shopping during the coronavirus pandemic.1. Write a List

Your list of groceries is a must because you need to spend as little time inside the store as possible. This will also limit you from touching too many products or shelves or walking around aisles more than once. Think of this as a more systematic way of doing your shopping.

There are grocery shopping list notepads that you can use for this purpose. With notepads meant for this purpose, you can easily itemize the things you want to purchase.

2. Schedule Your Trip

Going to the supermarket isn’t as simple as before – you can’t just decide to go and then hop in your car and do so. You need to plan your trip from start to finish; sometimes even days before.

First, look for a supermarket that has everything you need but is also close to you, proximity-wise. This way, you only need to go to one place. Second, decide to go to a place that practices COVID-19 guidelines. Stores are now required to contact trace, use thermal scanners, and limit the number of people inside an establishment, among many other protocols. If they follow all these rules, then you’re safe to go!

3. Protect Yourself and Others

In as much as these establishments practice social distancing, you are also expected to do your part whenever in a public place. Wear your mask to protect both yourself and others. Make sure your hands are clean or use gloves. If you’re experiencing symptoms or you’ve been in contact with someone who is COVID-19 positive, then postpone your grocery trip and practice self-quarantine for 14 days instead.

4. Lessen Your Trips to the Store

Shop for at least a 2 week supply so you don’t need to keep going back to the grocery store. You can stock up on perishables and just cook them in advance like when you meal prep for work or diet purposes. For the time being, just get creative with canned goods and processed foods so you don’t get tempted to order take-outs which can potentially be handled improperly.

Finally, know that your best protection is knowledge. When you have a full understanding of how COVID-19 can spread, then these guidelines shouldn’t be too hard for you to follow. Remember, as well, that as long as you’re individually doing your part, you’re helping in fighting this pandemic.
