4 Ways for Getting Out of a Funk

We’ve all been in a funk or a bad mood that we struggle to get out of. We look for ways to get out of this funk yet still don’t manage to change our mood and demeanor. There are many reasons why you might be in a bad mood. Your dog just died, you lost your job, you just went through a breakup. But all the emotions you feel as a result of these things are temporary, and never last forever. Just a quick read through some infamous Malcolm X Quotes will tell you all you need to know about overcoming adversity. So if you’re down that doesn’t mean you’re out. If you’re upset, that is not the end of the world. There are many ways to overcome your blues and get back in a better mood. Here are 4 ways for getting out of a funk.

#1- Do Something Fun

If you’re feeling down the best thing to do to make yourself feel better and happy again is to do something fun. And even more preferably, do your favorite activity. Go to your favorite restaurant, or watch the newest blockbuster movie. Call your friends up and set a time to meet at your local bar. Try to be out and about instead of home and alone. Being around friends and having a good time is a sure-fire way to get out of the funk your feeling.

#2- Get Out and Exercise

Exercising in the gym, or playing any sort of sport, is a great way to let out some of that extra stress and energy you have bottled up inside. Exercising helps you release stress and anxiety, and being at the gym will motivate you to let out all your frustration. But sometimes heavy lifting may not be your thing. In that case, find the nearest punching bag and just let out a barrage of punches on it. More often than not the cause of funk is frustration that you have not yet found the opportunity to let out and release. So why not do just that, especially if it’s going to make you feel better.

#3- Listen to Some Music

Music has the power and ability to levitate us out of our own bodies. It also has the ability to levitate us out of our own funk. If you’re feeling upset and in a bad mood, put on some music and let your mind wander. If a great way for you to let your mind focus on some other things, instead of that one thing that’s been consuming you. Play your favorite tracks, or compile a playlist meant for those exact moments for when you have the blues. Except stay away from blues music, or any other similar music that’s going to keep you in that bad mood or put you in a worse one. Opt for some lively music and allow yourself to enjoy it, and let your mind roam free.

#4- Pursue A Passion

Many times you find yourself being upset as a result of a lack of meaningful content in your life. This is why if you do feel like you could need more substance in your life, you should consider pursuing a passion project, or any other personal pursuit you might have. Start that project you always wanted to start and devote some time to it each and every day. You don’t have to make a full blown career out of it. Just as long as it give you personal and positive satisfaction, then that’s all that matters.
