7 different types of tree removal

Over time, disease, weather, or age often make a tree dangerous and necessary to cut down. It is important that you follow the correct method and safely remove a tree with minimal hassle. To get a quote on a tree removal service, check out Tree Guardian. Let’s see how many different ways a tree can be removed and when each one should be used.

Crane Removal

Most trees stand in dangerous vicinities and can be obstacles that can cause problems if chopped down without the proper techniques. These areas include buildings, poles, or even other trees. Additionally, in cases where a tree has taken a lot of damage due to weather or disease, it becomes hazardous for a person to climb and chop it down from the top going down. Therefore, the best way to address these problems is to use a crane to assist you. A skilled crane operator can ensure that a tree does not fall in its surroundings, lifting it over obstacles and setting it down in a safe location. It is a much safer process and ensures minimal damage to the environment around the tree.

Tree Driving

If multiple trees close to each other need to be cut, tree driving is one of the best methods to employ. However, it’s a complicated and delicate process and should only be attempted by an experienced professional. Tree Driving involves felling one tree over another to push the second tree over. It’s usually employed when several trees have grown clumped together, and it is difficult to cut them conventionally. Driving is most effective when the “driving tree” is taller or heavier than the second tree and has a natural lean that makes it fall where you want it to.

Bore Cut

Trees with large diameters or a natural lean can be a real pain to cut. In some situations, the tree trunk may split vertically, resulting in an uncontrolled fall that causes possible harm to the people and the buildings around the tree. A bore cut (also known as a plunge cut) helps solve this problem. You create wedges or hinges to ensure the tree falls in a particular direction. It gives the tree surgeon control over where the tree is going to fall. The bore cut is made using a chainsaw and requires skill and precision. However, it doesn’t need a lot of other machinery to get things done; a reasonably experienced tree surgeon can pull it off.

Back-Pulling

You can’t always let a tree fall towards its natural lean, especially if it leans into obstacles like other trees, property, or even people. Back-pulling ensures just that; that a tree falls away from its natural lean. A winch is installed some distance away from the natural lean of the tree, and a rope is attached to it. The higher a rope is tied to the tree; the more effective this process will be. When the tree is felled, the winch ensures that it lands on a planned spot.

Using a Chopping Axe

A chopping ax can cut down small trees and bring down large trees with adequate skill. It is a labor-intensive process that requires no additional machinery or electricity. An ax can be a very reliable tool over a long period. In tightly constrained spaces where a chainsaw is difficult to maneuver, this method makes for a smart replacement.

Using Two-Person Crosscut Saw

A two-person crosscut saw is an instrument that requires two physically capable individuals who have the necessary experience. There is no electricity or any other machinery needed for this method. It relies solely on the strength and skill of the individuals using the saw. Unlike a traditional saw, the two-person crosscut saw handles both ends and involves each person alternatively pulling the saw through the tree trunk. This process is quicker than a single person using an ax or saw and does not have a steep learning curve.

Modern Heavy Machinery

As interesting as these methods sound, mechanization has made tree-felling a much easier process than before. Some machines can lift out an entire tree along with its roots. This eliminates the extra process of stump removal, and in some cases, the whole tree can be transplanted to a different location. Vehicles manufactured by Ponssee and John Deere are capable of stripping and sectioning trees too.

Tree felling is a diverse and delicate endeavor. Each process is unique and employed in specific scenarios. Tree Guardian, for instance, makes a detailed plan on a case-to-case basis that tailors the procedure in line with your requirements. Make sure you get qualified and experienced arborists to do the job for you.
