7 Little Ways To Make Big Changes in Your Health for the New Year

If you have been looking for ways to support your health, now is the perfect time to do it. Even if you have made the decision to do so, however, knowing where to start may be a challenge. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, around 15 percent of Americans are physically inactive. Finding ways to get moving and prioritizing your health can help you avoid being part of that statistic. To make big changes for the New Year, consider these tips. Getting your blood tested regularly is also vital in understanding and improving your health. Find blood work near you and get your blood analyzed to rule out any health conditions or imbalances.

1. Spend Time in Nature

How often do you spend time under the trees or relaxing on a beach? Although these activities may sound like luxuries to some people with busy lives, finding time to spend time in nature can make an enormous difference in your overall health. Plus, everyone could benefit by slowing down and disconnecting from the wired world for a while. Health experts agree that getting closer to nature can be good for your breathing and overall happiness levels. 

2. Consider Vitamins and Supplements

Sometimes, everyone needs a little bit of extra help. When it comes to maintaining a diet with an adequate amount of nutrients, vitamin and mineral supplements can provide that extra support that many people miss out on with their normal eating and drinking choices. With health products from brands such as USANA, you can easily fill in nutritional gaps while ensuring that you are not taking anything with harmful additives. 

3. Consume Fresh Food

Speaking of healthy diets, consuming fresh food is another excellent way to make big changes to your health. Although eating at restaurants can be convenient, doing so can hurt both your wallet and your gut. Instead of going through the closest drive-thru on your next lunch break, consider paccking a lunch with fresh and portable fruits and veggies such as apples or some baby carrots. This is a great way to not only cut back on calories but to also feel better overall. 

4. Drink Enough Water

For another simple but effective way to support your health, look no further than your water bottle. If you do not have a water bottle, changing that can be a great place to start. According to medical professionals, adults should consume at least six to eight glasses of water every day. That may sound like a lot if you do not already drink enough water, but having a portable water bottle with you can make it much easier. Instead of choosing sugary beverages during meals, opt for water, and make sure to take sips in between. Doing so will curb hunger cravings and give you more energy. 

5. Take Walks Regularly

Living a busy life with work or school can lead people to prioritize other tasks over healthy activities such as exercise, but you should not allow a hectic schedule to hold you back from physical activity. One easy way to ensure that you are getting at least 30 minutes a day of physical movement at least five days a week is by taking walks on a regular basis. Take a look at your schedule and see when and where this might be possible. If you work all day, try taking a walk around your workplace. Neighborhoods, schools and parks can all offer good locations for walking, too. 

6. Stretch Whenever Possible

Many individuals struggle with body aches and pains as well as focusing. Some great news is that you can address both of these issues but doing something as simple as stretching out your muscles. As it turns out, there are numerous benefits of stretching the body. Whether you choose to do structured stretch activities such as yoga or you create your own routine, regular stretching can support many aspects of your health. Who knew?
