Cabinetry for your kitchen is undoubtedly an essential component of your kitchen. They come in various designs, styles, finishing, and sizes that you can choose. Standard premade sizes meet a wide range of needs, whereas custom California cabinets can be made in various designs and dimensions. When you’re renovating your home kitchen, it’s crucial to think about these factors and many more, as listed below before calling the kitchen remodel contractor like DR Design & Remodel. Let our design team show you the best cabinet options for your kitchen remodel.

  • You Have To Choose What Suits Your Needs

Kitchen cabinets come in different constructions, different prices, and accessory options. There are three options for kitchen cabinets;

  • Stock Cabinets

You will usually find these in home improvement stores after they ship from the factory. Generally, they are easy to install since they have pre-assembled parts, although some may require assembly on-site. The advantage they have is affordability, while their main limitation is that they come in a few colors, materials, and styles because they are mass-produced at factories.

  • Custom Cabinets

These cabinets are made precisely according to your preference, depending on the material, color, and finish. The advantage that they have is that they are fully customizable. You have options for features like; coffee stations, dishwashers in drawers. The attention to detail given to their construction often means that they go for a higher price.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets

These are a type of stock cabinets with several options allowing for the customization of storage capabilities. They allow you the freedom to customize the size and style. While allowing you to customize them, they are still pricey compared to stock cabinets.

  • Work With A Budget

Even when working with a budget for a home improvement project, it is easy to go above the budget. While the most expensive and modern choices could be tempting, it is always good to have a plan and stick to it. First, consider if you want to make the home a rental or sell it off. The type of investment will determine your requirements for kitchen cabinets.

  • Pick Your Colors Carefully

When choosing colors for your kitchen cabinet, select colors that you’ll stick with for a long time. You would instead follow design recommendations over current trends, which may get outdated over time. Consider the colors that you use since they will affect your space generally. For an idea about your preferred color, it is best to study your kitchen style. Modern style kitchens will allow you an expanded color palette, while traditionally styled kitchens will work with classical colors.

  • Make A Donation Of Your Old Cabinets

Your old cabinets now qualify as junk since you are getting new ones. Do not throw them away yet. Many groups collect old cabinets, and some are even willing to come to pick them up at your house. You could inform your contractor to remove the cabinets with care so that you can donate them to an organization later.

  • Consult Before Picking Cabinet Sizes

You need to be aware of the sizes of the cabinets that you would require to store your dry goods and appliances. Define some parameters such as the height, depth, and width of your current cabinet setup. You can obtain this information from home improvement shops that offer design services to assist you in determining the best configuration depending on the space and budget. If your project involves an architect or interior designer, they will advise you on the required cabinet sizes.

  • Framed Or Frameless

Cabinets typically come in two styles; framed and frameless.

  • Framed

These usually have supporting structures at the front (face frame) that offer the reinforcement needed to attach doors and drawers. With this reinforcement, your cabinet can be easily modified to fit into tight spaces. They are a typical choice because they are affordable and have come with many customization options.

  • Frameless

Frameless kitchen cabinets have thicker cabinet boxes where their doors and drawers are directly attached. They lack a frame face which allows for easy access.  Installation usually takes a shorter time, and they have thicker materials. These cabinets are standard in modern kitchens.

  • Check Out The Models Yourself

It is easy to shop for a cabinet online, although it would be easier to go to the showroom to check out the cabinets yourself. You can judge wood quality, how the cabinet doors open and how the hinges are adjusted. For example, your shelves should have at least three-quarters of plywood since anything below that will be affected by the weight of items placed on it if it’s not strong enough.

It is easy to capture all of this information in person. If the cabinet that you are looking for is unavailable at your nearby store, you have the option of heading to the model showroom, where you will quickly inspect the quality.
