Packing is one of those things that has to be done. If you’re moving, you will need to take everything in your house and move it to a new space. At the same time, packing can be a huge chore. Packing for a move can take a lot of time. There are ways to speed up this process. Staying organized can help keep on track and ready to meet all those deadlines. The same is true of getting all packing materials on hand well in advance. Asking friends and moving some things earlier can also help get it all done fast.

We all know the feeling of that last-minute rush to pack before rushing off to the airport for a holiday or business trip. It can be stressful and time-consuming if you don’t have the right equipment or knowledge. But Packing and Shipping don’t have to be an arduous task; with a little know-how, you can speed up the process, so it’s not as daunting as possible.

You can make your packing process quicker and easier with today’s advanced packing supplies available on the market.

Starting Early

The US census estimates most Americans will move about ten times during the course of their lifetime. That means that many Americans know what it takes to get a move off the ground because they have done it before. Many Americans are well aware of the need to get started with their plans to pack things up as early as possible. Getting started early allows them enough time to make it all come together and avoid delays when the move happens. Packing does not have to be done all at once. It can be spread out over time.

All Items in Advance

Having packing materials on hand before the move begins is another way to make packing a lot less stressful. You may have things in your house you can use now like scissors. A run to the store to stock up in a few weeks before the move is essential. A portable storage box can be a great asset. Think about what you need before you start. You’ll want to have lots of boxes in hand along with packing tape and other things. Boxes should be of varied sizes. You’ll want lots of boxes that are tall enough to put the longer things you own in them. Much smaller boxes can also be of use. Put the heavier things in the smaller boxes and the lighter items in your larger boxes. That will make them easier for the movers to carry to your new home.

Ask Your Friends

Friends and family want to help. The average American has over a dozen friends. If you are planning to move to a whole new area that is far from your home, now is the time to say goodbye to them. Hold a packing party. Serve drinks and a few appetizers. Your friends can help you decide how to pack most efficiently. They can share tricks they’ve learned about how to pack as fast as possible.

Moving Early

Another way you can get the move in place and items out of your personal space quickly is by moving as many of your things as possible before the official move day. If you are moving into a space that’s already been vacated, ask if you can move a few items into the space before the actual moving day begins. Many sellers are happy to set aside a space in the home you’re buying for your things. That allows you to do the packing on your own terms when you have some free time.

Getting Organized

Moving is about getting all those little details in place before you begin. Packing is about keeping things in the right place so they can be picked up. Now is the time to get your organizational skills in gear. Set up an overall moving plan. You might want to get things done by room. For example, start by packing up everything in the dining room. Then move on to the living room and the basement. Another way to organize your move is by things you’re not going to use right now. If you’re moving in the winter, you don’t need that bathing suit. Pick a plan for packing things and stick to it from the start.
