A Room-by-Room Guide for Deep Cleaning Your House

Apart from your regular cleaning plan- including washing the dishes, sweeping the kitchen floor, cleaning your bedding, you should schedule a time to deep clean your home. Since dirt and germs are everywhere, deep cleaning your home needs to happen regularly to get rid of all the grime and dirt.

While many people don’t do this, you should deep clean your house seasonally or four times a year. Stick to your deep cleaning schedule by highlighting four weekends throughout the year that you commit to deep cleaning. As you approach the weekend, reference the deep cleaning checklist to ensure everything is alright. Click here to go on Fresh Maids House Deep Cleaning.

Kitchen

Kitchens are perhaps the busiest places at home. It’s where you prepare dinner, grab a snack, and potentially where you take your meals. Because kitchens are everything when it comes to food preparation, they should remain clean at all times.

Cabinets– Wipe the cabinets, doors, and pools and remove any dust, grime, and food accumulated over the months.

Countertops- Clear the clutter and remove all items. Wipe down any object such as coffee pot, spice racks, knives, etc., and make sure they are free from grime, dust, and food.

Appliances– Wipe down all your appliances both inside and out.

Sink and garbage disposal– Cut a lemon and deep in coarse salt and scrub the sink well. Once you are done, rinse. For garbage disposal, just toss the lemon in and allow it to run.

Sink drain– Sprinkle some baking soda and white vinegar down the drain. Once the bubbling has stopped, take a brush and scrub around the drain thoroughly.

Bathroom

Just like other rooms, the bathroom sees quite a lot of traffic. Everyday bathroom activities such as bathing produce conditions that encourage mold and mildew build-up, affecting your health. Deep cleaning your bathroom with these steps can help you.

Shower doors- Spray on undiluted white vinegar to clear away the cloudiness.  Wipe it down with a sponge dampened with water and a few drops of dish soap.

Shower- Spray white vinegar on shower walls. Using a scrub brush, scrub the wall. Polish and remove scum from the drain and the faucet.

Curtain and liner– Wash the curtains using a machine washer. You can also toss your liner in the washing machine while following the guidelines.

Toilet- To get rid of rust stains, pour 2 cups of vinegar, wait for 30 minutes, then scrub. Avoid using chlorine bleach.

Sink and countertop– Using white vinegar or all-purpose cleaner, spray the area, scrub and grime, and wipe it clean.

Mirror- Using white vinegar and a microfiber cloth, spray the mirror and wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.

Living Room

Also known as the family room, the living room is where you enjoy family movie marathons and game nights. It’s hard to enjoy your family time when your living room is messy and cluttered.

Ceilings– Using a microfiber wand, sweep over them while making sure you reach the cobwebby corner.

Wash the curtains and drapes– Wash all your curtains and drapes and wipe down all the blinds using a cloth dipped in water and vinegar.

Clean carpets and rugs– Vacuum your carpets and rugs. You can also use a washing machine to wash your rug. If your carpet or rug is larger, use a sponge, warm water, and shampoo to clean it.

Dust the furniture– Using a microfiber cloth wipe down all the wooden furniture, shelves, mantels, and picture frames.

Wipe down ceiling fans and light fixtures–  Keeping the fans clean boosts their performance and allows them to cool the home more efficiently. Wipe down the dust with a microfiber cloth and ensure you test each bulb and replace it if need be.

Wash the windows– First, sweep the windows and then wash them with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Clean the inside of all the windows.

Clean upholstered furniture– Remove the cushions and vacuum all the furniture to remove crumbs. Make sure you clean your furniture according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Bedroom

We spend a lot of time in the bedroom. Though we spend most of that time sleeping, we don’t want to sleep in a dirty room. Deep clean your bedroom using the following steps.

Bedding– Wash all the beddings and the mattress protector and wash them. Plus, clean the sheet and the duvet cover.

Pillows- Remove your pillowcase and wash them. Also, put your pillow in the wash.

Mattress– Vacuum your mattress and then sprinkle a mild detergent and water and baking soda to soak the odors

Drawers, bedside table, and drawers– remove any garbage clutter and clear out all the old clothes. Clean the place, then fold and organize the clothes according to type.

Although deep cleaning a house is quite involving, it has incredible rewards. Just seeing your home clean will motivate you to work harder. The more you deep clean your home, the easier the task becomes.
