A sassy businesswoman who doesn’t need a man to shine | Roxanne Hamedi

Roxanne Hamedi is a 29-year-old pharmacist, entrepreneur, and reality TV star who has proven that a woman can do wonders in any industry if she sets her heart and mind to it. Born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland, Roxanne Hamedi has a Persian-Scottish heritage and speaks both English and Farsi fluently.

Roxanne Hamedi’s journey from a pharmacist to an entrepreneur and reality TV star began when she moved to London to live with her then-boyfriend. After they split up, she was scouted on Instagram by MTV studios, who asked if she “was single and liked to party.” A couple of Zoom meetings later, she was pleasantly surprised to find out that she had been selected for the popular reality show Geordie Shore. 

A few weeks had gone by when she was asked to pack her bags and head to Newcastle, where she filmed for four weeks during the summer of 2021. Roxanne Hamedi was also invited to the reunion show for series 23 with Charlotte Crosby and the original cast in 2022.

The talented artist holds a Master’s degree in Pharmacy and has been a practicing pharmacist for almost six years. She was inspired to become a pharmacist because of her desire to help people and give back to the community. However, she also had a desire to be famous, and when the opportunity came up for Geordie Shore, she couldn’t miss it.

For Roxanne Hamedi, switching from a pharmacist to reality TV was not difficult because reality TV did not feel like a job to her, and it was completely different from the healthcare scene. This is not all! She also wanted to establish her own business. Hence, she created a cosmetics line called “A Selfish Soul” during lockdown – that was before she appeared on TV. 

As far as the brand is concerned, it is inspired by her passion for taking control of her life and doing something for herself. The name “A Selfish Soul” represents the idea of self-care and the importance of focusing on oneself. On how she thought of setting up her own business, Roxy Hamedi shares, “I was going through a rough patch where, like most of the world, I was fed up with life. I wanted to do something for myself. I felt like my whole life was devoted to my job, and even with relationships, I was always the giver.” 

The pharmacist-turned-entrepreneur further went on to add, “I felt like I needed to take control of myself and do something my future self would be proud of. The name, A Selfish Soul, just means to be focused on yourself because you deserve it.”

Her cosmetics business currently focuses on eyebrows. However, she has a personal connection with brows as she suffers from Trichotillomania, a hair-pulling disorder. She believes that by focusing on eyebrows, she can help others who also suffer from this disorder. The brand is all set to launch this year, starting with a brow kit, and once it gains popularity, she will focus on other areas of the face as the brand grows. She hopes to build a cosmetic empire as she loves makeup. 

In addition to this, she is passionate about working out at the gym, listening to music, art, and interior design. Her mantra for success is: “Rome wasn’t built in a day, and if it were that easy, everyone would be doing it. So nothing worthwhile comes easy. I believe that when you put in the effort, along with having the right resources and also a bit of luck, you can achieve anything.”

Roxanne Hamedi believes that one’s mindset is crucial in determining their fate, and in fact, in one of her previous interviews, she revealed that she doesn’t need a man to shine or make it big in any field. She firmly believes that consistency is the most important thing to focus on your goals. Though she is of the view that surrounding oneself with positive people and having a strong support system is crucial to maintaining a positive mindset, she stresses that one doesn’t need a man for that. All one needs is an optimistic approach and ways to improve and learn.

A multifaceted individual who has proven her versatility in various fields, Roxanne Hamedi is surely a force to reckon with. From being a pharmacist to a reality TV star and an entrepreneur, she continues to inspire and empower people with her positive attitude and determination.
