A United Front: Shincheonji Church’s Third International Prayer Event

NOVEMBER 15th – Shincheonji Church of Jesus hosted an online international event to pray for the end of the COVID-19 pandemic which has caused millions of deaths and much suffering all across the globe.

Praying for the government, medical personnel, patients, families of the deceased, and the citizens, the congregation members of Shincheonji and many other persons of faith participated in the event to demonstrate their unified desire for COVID-19 to end. Shincheonji’s Global Prayer Service of Religious People is the third prayer event to be arranged by Chairman Lee Man-Hee this year and people of all faiths were invited to join on November 15th at 3 PM that day. The event was live streamed on the Shincheonji Church of Jesus’ official YouTube channel and was welcoming to all participants.

Furthermore, 4,000 fully recovered members from Shincheonji will be participating in a large group plasma donation to help advance efforts in developing a vaccine for the virus. Plasma donations containing antibodies are in high demand by researchers to help treat infected individuals. Presenting a united front with both the prayer event and plasma donation, the Shincheonji Church of Jesus demonstrates how individuals of various faiths and denominations can come together and look past each other’s differences to bring an end to suffering.

Chairman Lee of Shincheonji Church urged many to pray for the end of the pandemic as the global suffering has cost millions of lives and caused distress upon the countries and their citizens: “Too many people are suffering because of COVID-19, especially with those who were infected in church last February that caused distress to the members and the citizens. We should actively put in our effort and pray to God for the country, the people, and for the pandemic to end. I urge every person of faith around the world to also gather their hearts and pray so the whole world can come out of the suffering caused by this plague.”

Rather than being rendered helpless by the pandemic and quarantine, the Shincheonji Church has found safe and creative ways to unite the communities together to give hope in times of hardship and isolation. Since February, they have faithfully obeyed the government mandates to isolate and quarantine by continuing to do service online: “Even as the church shutdown orders are lifted, the church should not conduct services or meetings with many participants to prevent the members from contracting COVID-19. We must disinfect and care for the members’ health by preparing non-contact thermometers and other necessities.”

Emphasizing the safety and health of the community, Chairman Lee consistently urges congregation members to abide by the rules of quarantine and distancing to further prevent an increase in infectious cases. With the third international prayer meeting online, anyone of a faith is invited to attend and give support to a hopeful cause.

After attending the prayer event, a member of Shincheonji Church of Jesus said, “Ahead of the third group plasma donation in which 4,000 fully recovered members are planning to participate, we are praying all together for a quick vaccine development and for COVID-19 to end. We will do everything we can and act responsibly until the pandemic ends.”
