In an age where time is the only currency, people often submit to living without proper diets. According to WHO, improper diets are one of the leading causes of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, and in some cases, cancer.
Every individual is different; therefore, there is no one-shoe-fits-all when it comes to diets. Most nutritionists and dieticians are known to stick to a pre-defined diet plan that they pitch to every client, which can lead to problems down the lane. However, a few dedicated nutritionists believe in giving every client the care they deserve.
One such individual is Ann Claiborne, a sports-certified nutritionist who is on a mission to help people live healthy and carefree lives through proper dieting. With over 22 years of industry experience, Ann is determined to reach as many people as she can through her ventures, Mission Nutrition and Customized Concierge Nutrition. We had a chance to sit down with the woman herself and quiz her about her motivation, approach, and intentions for the future in an exclusive interview.
When asked about what motivated her to pursue a profession in the health and wellness industry, Ann had this to say, “I have a history as a nurse in the army and even before that, I enjoyed an active lifestyle. Ever since I was a kid, I was into sports and other extracurricular activities, so I realized early on how much nutrition affects performance and recovery. It’s easily 70% of the battle, so not educating yourself on that subject seems like a mistake, especially if you’re an individual who values your own health.” The sports nutritionist further added, “My mother was a dietician, so all my childhood, I was acutely aware of what to put in my belly.”
As the conversation took a more serious turn, we asked Ann Claiborne about her latest ventures, Mission Nutrition and Customized Concierge Nutrition and what makes them different from others. “Both of them cater to different audiences. Mission Nutrition is a platform to educate others about the importance of a healthy diet – you’d be surprised at how little people know about the matter. In short, it helps people maintain healthy diets on a budget through cookbooks, daily text service, and occasional motivational quotes.”
The performance nutritionist further elaborated, “Whereas Customized Concierge Nutrition is for athletes and C-suite executives, basically individuals who understand time is money and health is wealth. It’s the complete package which includes everything even remotely connected to health and nutrition.” Ann Claiborne continued, “The process begins with a complete medical assessment, which our team of dieticians, nutritionists, hormone therapists, and function nutrition specialists use to create a custom nutrition plan. We then hire a chef or a meal prep company and have the food delivered to the clients. We also offer each client their own personal nutritionist that they can call or text if they have any queries.”
Intrigued by her unique approach to dealing with conventional problems, we asked Ann about her plans for the future, to which she replied, “I have a few things planned out. I’m currently writing a book, and I intend to publish it soon. I’m even planning to do a TED Talk, but that’s what I want to do in the next couple of years. As for the long run, I want my business to go global and be considered an industry leader in the health and wellness industry.”
On a parting note, Ann Claiborne emphasized on the importance of maintaining a healthy diet, “A lot of people feel drained and tired all the time, especially the younger generation. I would advise them to change their diets because this simple change can go a long way in ensuring you stay safe from health complications.”
