3 Reasons Why You Should Buy A Patek Philippe Watch – A Beginner’s Guide

When it comes to luxury watches, a few brands will come to mind. And if you ask any collector, they probably have Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Omega on top of the list of wristwatches to collect. Today, we will talk about Patek Philippe, which pieces to check out, and why collectors love them so much. Most people don’t understand why many collectors love the brand so much. But given its craftsmanship, history, and heritage, that is what makes this brand more special.

But before we talk about which models to check out, let’s first talk about the main reasons why collectors go after them in the first place. Keep on reading to know more!

1. Rare pieces.

Ever since their production in 1839, it is believed that there are less than a million Patek Philippe watches produced. Compared to other luxury Swiss companies, that is a big gap. But why is that? Since the brand is focused on the quality rather than the number of timepieces they can produce, the most basic Patek Philippe watch takes almost a year to perfect. Some pieces would even go up to two years! The company has mastered the art of watchmaking, which makes every timepiece more than just an accessory. In a year, the brand only makes around 50,000 pieces, 35,000 of them are men’s automatic wristwatches. Now, there are several stores where you can acquire a piece. When it comes to online shops, you can check out The Watch Company for rare and modern pieces.

2. It never loses its value.

The value of a Patek Philippe watch grows over time. Though there is no assurance in the future, there are a few models that have doubled, even tripled, their value as of today. For example, an original 1970 Nautilus used to retail for $3,000.00. Today, it costs more than $50,000.00. A $300.00 1950 Calatrava now values $20,000.00. Even if you are not planning to resell them in the future, it is nice to know that your timepiece holds great value as the years pass by. And given that more people are trying to get their hands on a Patek Philippe and limited supply, we can surely expect to see the numbers grow higher.

3. Be part of tradition and history.

More than its monetary value and prestige it holds, owning a Patek Philippe means being part of something greater. As we all know, Patek Philippe is a family-owned business led by the Stern family. For generations, the brand is consistent when it comes to its vision, philosophies, and policies. Until today, the company continues to uphold its values of the traditional art of creating timepieces.
