Choosing the Right Commercial Internet for Your Business

In today’s age, business without the internet is nearly impossible. Sometimes, better Internet gives an edge to the business over its rival. Before deciding which internet is right for you there are some things that you need to know.

Why a commercial internet?

A commercial internet is more expensive than a residential internet. Does it make sense to get a commercial one when businesses strive to cut costs? The simple answer would be, yes.

Commercial internet offers more security for your confidential data. At the same time, A business has more upload and download volume plus they require more speed. Internet service providers customize the commercial internet to meet these requirements. Lastly, businesses need 24/7 service staff so that smooth business can take place.

What are the different types of connections?

This is another question that can have a huge impact on your internet speed and efficiency.  Every connection has its pros and cons. Some of them include:

Satellite

In this type of connection, a dish is set up on the roof that catches signals from the satellites. The main upside of this connection is that it can be set up anywhere. You will not have to worry about whether a certain ISP covers your area or not. In addition, there is not that much wiring needed which saves money. However, it does not have a good speed to cater to the business needs.

Cable

Here the internet is provided through coaxial cables. The infrastructure of this connection is present already because of televisions. This means you will not have to lay it out from the start. However, the downside of this connection is that it has a shared line. This means that internet speed gets slow once everybody on the line tries to access the internet.

Fiber optics

If you want speed at any cost then fiber optics is the best option for you. It provides high bandwidth and is the latest technology. The internet signals are transmitted through light in fiber optics. No bad weather can disturb you if you have this connection. Apart from that, it is harder to hack into than other connections. The only con of this connection is that it is expensive. If you can afford it, this can be one of the best investments.

DSL

DSL stands for Digital subscriber Line. As the name suggests, this connection provides the internet through a dedicated telephone line. You can always depend on this connection as it has been proven reliable over the years. Other than that, it is very economical compared to other connections.

DSL will best serve you if you are near the telephone exchange. If you are far then the speed gets affected.  This will be a huge problem as DSL already provides less speed. Nonetheless, it is suitable for a small rural agency that does not need high speed as it is available everywhere

What to look for in a service provider?

A service provider’s job does not end at just giving you the internet connection. Apart from speed and once in while maintenance, the Service provider should walk an extra mile to serve you. Some of these extra efforts are:

Packages

Most Internet service providers do not only deal in the internet business. Many also provide telephone services or TV cable services. While getting an internet connection, you should bargain for these additional services. As service providers will be getting a big business from you, they will not mind tossing these additional services your way.

Data Caps

Most service providers restrict your data consumption after a certain limit is crossed. Although some might say that they provide unlimited data. However, in their policy, they do have a data cap. If you have huge data consumption, discuss these issues first hand.

Maintenance support

Before signing up for any service, thoroughly examine the support system of the service provider. Ask them questions about what is their contingency plan in outrages and what backups do they have. In addition, look up if they provide real human call support or just an automated response. This thing proves very critical in businesses as every minute counts.

Conclusion

Every business is different and has different requirements altogether. It is very difficult to point out a standard plan for all businesses. Go through the whole article and at the end you will be in a position to decide what is best for you. That being said, always look for ISPs who offer add ons like cloud storage, data backup, or even web hostings. One such service provider is ONQ Communications that make sure to put forward the best of all.
