Coping with Exam Stress

It is really very tough to understand the dilemma of the students during the exam. They work so hard and with such a grave dedication that no one can think of catching their efforts in order to make their whole year’s hard work turn into success. Students learn and read day and night during exams. They keep learning 24×7 in order to score good marks and position the class. Students make their own benchmarks based on expectations of the parents, peers, tutors, mentors etc. and keep on working hard to achieve it. But sometimes or we can say that often they forget their humanitarian limits and go beyond the limits with themselves. This results in stress and anxiety. Sometimes people try to escape sharing about anxiety and want to keep it a secret because they feel shy talking about it or due to their ego, they don’t want to become a burden on anyone but then it turns into stress and then into depression which takes a big toll on mental health. So, students need to share their issues with learned people or family to cope up with exam stress. Here we are going to discuss very light and easy things which can help the students cope with exam stress. First, stress happens when nothing is in organized order so students need to organize their study material to their time schedule properly. And when this schedule is prepared then it is necessary for the students to follow this schedule and stick to the routine of eating and sleeping around the same time daily without skipping a single day because during preparation of exams students usually compromise with fixed routines of sleeping and eating. Studying and learning are common factors in order to attain good marks in exams but some other factors are also responsible for the performance in the exams and that is a good and sound sleep. Yes, students keep this part of their routine at stake while preparing for the exams and they should not. Every human being needs to have a sound sleep of 6-8 hours and so does a student so as to recharge the mind and retain capacity of remembering the learnt material. To decrease the stress of exams it is necessary that students should reward themselves for the efforts they make to earn good marks like watching comedy movies and roam around a beautiful peaceful place.

To maintain focus on study it is necessary that students should save their mind from distractions like friends who instigate to leave reading and go for a match etc. Students should also avoid some other distractions while studying like TV, mobile phones, chattering relatives etc. They all distract from the goal of studying. Student’s meal also makes a grave effect on their study routine so students should avoid eating junk food because it takes a lot of energy and time to digest such junk foods and this degrades the energy of studying and students feel lazy after eating such stuff. Therefore, students need to eat balanced food like fresh fruits, green vegetables, cereals, grains, pulses which are full of protein, grains etc. which are good for brain and energy level. Also, everything related to best performance in exams depends upon mental status so give some rest to mind also by taking help of some relaxation activities like meditation, deep breathing or listening to sweet music. Students look into advertisements of their favourite actors and they start drinking cold drinks and energy drinks in the ads they see. But what they don’t know is these drinks raise the sugar level of the body very fast and create lots of health issues so instead of drinking such harmful things students should drink water instead.
