Dēto A Raibu in Japanese aka Date A Live is a Japanese sci-fi romantic comedy that is based on Koushi Tachibana’s novel of the same title. The light novel series appeared for the first time on March 19, 2011. The huge recognition of the light novel paved its way to manga adaptation the following year. The success of the light novel led it to anime series the next year. The first season of the anime Date a Live premiered on April 6, 2013.
Just like the light novel and manga, the television anime series became a major hit. The vast number of viewers made the creators renew the anime for another season. Date a Live anime’s plot centers at dating and it has made it an interesting and funny watch. The show is set in the near future which is not-so-distant. ‘Spacequake’ is an inexplicable natural phenomenon that causes millions of lives every time it occurs. The scientists are burning the midnight oil to cope with this demon and to save millions of lives.
In this backdrop, this show takes place in Tokyo where Shidou Itsuka, the lead character, is a high school student. He attends ‘Raizen High’ school and lives with his sister Kotori who is as cute as she is. The truing point of the anime series is a sudden Spacequake that hit Tokyo. In an effort to save his sister’s life in this Spacequake, Shidou encounters a mysterious girl. At this moment, we learn that this girl is not a human but a spirit whose arrival on earth causes strange changes known as Sapcequakes.
With this all going on, Shidou is rescued by an anti-Spirit squad team led by his sister. He is told by his sister that there are only two ways to deal with such spirits: exterminating them or by making them fall in love. From this point, Shidou takes on the responsibility to make spirits fall in love with him thus saving the world from the disastrous ‘Spacequake’. During this time, he goes through many life-threatening situations. Date a Live Season 4 will continue the story with new adventures of saving the world from the spirits.
The first two seasons were released with a gap of a year in fact months but the third season took five years. It landed on television on January 11, 2019, and ended its run on March 29, 2019. More than a year has been elapsed and Date a Live season 4 release date is still missing. The flawless plot and brilliant projection made the fans wait for another season of the show. With this all, nothing has been confirmed by the creators and it seems too early to predict anything.
