The term “mod” simply refers to making a change, or modification, to something. This is what we refer to when talking about pinball mods. You are adding new things, like LED light upgrades or high fi sound, to your machine. It doesn’t take much if any, experience to make these modifications. All you need are some basic DIY skills, because lots of mods today are sold as kits that are easy to install.

Will mods affect your gaming experience?

Your gameplay experience will be affected based on the type of mod you install. Out of all the mods you can add to your game, lighting mods easily offer the biggest impact on your gameplay.

By switching out the previously installed incandescent bulbs with more efficient, modern and more colorful LEDs, you will take your gameplay to an entirely different level. The new lights not only change how vibrant your gameplay is, they also add increased functionality to the pinball machine by making the game much brighter and easier to see by brightening up the general illumination (GI).

Upgrades can also be done on the machine anywhere there is lighting, including under the cabinet, back boxes, and you can even install lights in the scoop holes.

Another major plus to adding LEDs to your pinball machine is that they burn MUCH cooler than incandescent bulbs, allowing for safer gameplay and giving you the assurity that any plastic components are safe. A more illuminated playing field makes play easier and much more fun because you are able to see the play area much more clearly.
