Everything You Need To Know About JEE Mains

Engineering is the most followed and the most practised profession in India. Many students in India pursue engineering as their bachelor’s degree or for further education. In fact in India, it is considered orthodox to pursue engineering and become a doctor. Everybody has a belief that being an engineer is the best thing for getting a good job. The craze and demand for engineering is so high in India that it has caused an overabundance of engineers Due to which getting a job as an engineer in India today has become a crisis today. Engineering is one of the hardest bachelor’s degrees to pursue and students’ parents pay a high amount of fees for the admission of their ward in a reputed college. Engineering is a discipline of science that includes designing, testing and building machines, structures, and processes using science and mathematics. Though in India, jobs for engineering have become overcrowded today, a student can still benefit from jobs that are offered abroad.

In order to get into a reputed college of engineering, one needs to attain the main entrance examination for engineering called the JEE. Its full form is the Joint Entrance Examination which was previously known as Engineering Entrance Examination.

  1. It’s a nationwide computer-operated examination for engineering and architecture.
  2. It is administered by the National Testing Agency.
  3. It was started in the year 2002 due to the increasing demand for engineering.
  4. It can be attended in a wide range of languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Odiya, English, Punjabi, Assamese, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam etc.
  5. There is no age barrier for these exams.
  6. It is constituted in two forms- the JEE Mains and the JEE advanced.
  7. It is conducted by the CBSE, two times a year.
  8. Students who pass out their 11th and 12th standards in subjects of physics, chemistry or maths can attempt these exams.
  9. The JEE mains exam has 90 questions in total which consist of 30-30-30 questions of physics, chemistry and mathematics respectively.
  10. The total marks of the examination are 360 marks.
  11. The time duration of the JEE main exam is 3 hours.
  12. The marking scheme is 4 marks per correct answer and minus 1 as negative marking for every wrong answer.
  13. Zero is earned for every unanswered question.
