Why One Needs the PCB Test

Different Levels of Testing the PCB

• Bare-Board

In the bare-board process, the fault justifiers look for the miscalculation of the circuit connection, and the board must maintain a good fabrication. The first step of this test is by applying a small voltage on the circuit board. After the process starts, there come two points. One is ‘Short’, and the other one is ‘Open’. Then the step comes the way of CT scanning, which helps to make the solder path details visible and connections. This process also creates a 3D render of the board.

• Assembly Level

Examiners go through the circuit board test fixture by both manually and automatically by a machine or equipment. And this examination starts after the assembly of the PCB or electronic products. In the present time, the automatic testing procedure is an effective one and can examine the bulk amount of products in a short time. But, the testing machines are quite expensive and require a panel of experts to operate. 

• The Functional Test

When the final step of manufacturing occurs, one test gets in the list, and that test is the functional test. This test passes the working PCB forwards and rejects the PCB circuit board with bad joints. This rejection forwards the products to the refurbishing department to assemble the product by fixing the joints or send the boards to the destroying panel to destroy completely. The passing path of products features the working results of the circuit boards means select only those boards which are out of any fault. This test determines the effects of circuit boards by the behaviour during the working time. In many places, people know this examination as the ‘hot mock-up test’ or the last stage of the products. After this test, either the products go to the customer’s hand in the purpose of the use. Or the products go to the dejection area.

Before the PCB Examination

Before you start the examination, you need to know the PCB and the knowledge regarding this test. This test refers to the study on the boards to find the components connects and the terminated area or bad joints before launching the products for the final use. The popular ways to test the PCB materials are, mechanically or pneumatically. Moreover, the mechanical or the manual procedure is the affordable option to establish the test; since the automatic testing, machines cost highly. In the test, the testers identify the input point and measure the value by calculating the output. Another primary concept is fixture and jig.
