The institute said that the cancer risk is reduced by half and the cancer risk by 36 percent. At the start of the study, the scientists observed the participants, who were 49 years old on average, for a total of eight years.

Nine percent of the test subjects met all criteria for a healthy lifestyle. Only four percent of the subjects had none of these positive characteristics. The scientists were able to assign one to three of the criteria points to most of the participants. According to the institute, the general rule was: the more of the characteristics the participants exhibited, the lower their risk of disease.
