Five Steps to a Mini Mommy Makeover

Being a mother is a profoundly rewarding and satisfying job, but it can also be stressful. Children, especially small ones, have a way of sucking the energy right out of you and leaving behind a frumpy, exhausted and disheveled shell. Understandably, many moms lose a bit of the self-confidence that they once had in their appearance. A makeover can be just the ticket to help you get out of your self-esteem slump, but a professional job can cost an arm and a leg. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways you can treat yourself without spending recklessly. Here are five steps to giving yourself a mini mommy makeover. Oh, and by the way: I found a lot of these tips around the web. I put together my favorites!

Grab a Glass of Wine

Before you get started, pour yourself a nice glass of red wine. Red wine isn’t just relaxing. It’s also rich in a powerful antioxidant called resveratrol that has been shown to slow the aging process and keep you looking younger for longer. Furthermore, wine’s stress-fighting benefits mean that you’ll be lowering your levels of cortisol. Also called the stress hormone, cortisol significantly accelerates aging. If you’ve ever noticed how high-stress people appear chronically tired and much older than they really are, then you’ve witnessed what excessive stress can do to your looks.

Facial Treatment

Now that you’re thoroughly relaxed, you’re ready to give your face some tender loving care. After moistening your face, follow the instructions on your cleanser and toner and moisturizer. These will clear the dirt and oil from your skin, balance its delicate pH and rehydrate it.

Manicure and Pedicure

One of the simplest ways to make yourself look nice is by doing your nails. Using clippers and a file, trim your nails to the desired length and smooth out the edges. After that’s done, pick out your favorite polish and apply it. Don’t be afraid to get creative! There are all sorts of special effects you can add to your nails to really make them stand out.

Laser Hair Removal

It’s normal for women to have some unwanted hair, especially on the chin and around the mouth. Fortunately, this can be taken care of by making an appointment at a laser hair removal spa. After a quick procedure, you’ll never again have to suffer from painful plucking or smelly hair removal creams.

Change of Color

For women who are tired of always having the same hair color, a dye job can fix things right up. Because it can be hard to do this by yourself, it’s recommended that you have a friend to help you. Be cautious about the color you buy, because your hair can take almost a year to go back to its original color.
