Hair Brushing Tricks For Softer and Healthier Locks

Everyone loves having soft and healthy-looking tresses, thanks to celebrities and advertisements portraying what “perfect hair” should look and feel. Because of those representations, most people would go beyond using their daily hair growth conditioners. They’d undergo hair rebonding, keratin treatments, and hair spas to have softer and smoother hair. Yet, most of you might not know that even just with your hairbrush, you can get those pliable locks. Below are some hairbrush tricks that you can follow to achieve the best results for your tresses.

7 Hair Brush Tricks to Ensure Healthy-Growing Hair

Here are seven essential tricks you should take note of when brushing your tresses.

1. Brush your hair regularly, but don’t overbrush.

Frequent brushing of your hair is one way to keep your hair soft and manageable. The sebaceous glands underneath your scalp produce sebum that helps moisturize the skin and your hair strands. When you comb your hair, you distribute those natural oils to the different parts of your tresses, hydrate them, and give your hair extra shine. However, don’t brush your hair aggressively, for you may cause some strands to fall out or snap. Over-brushing can roughen your hair cuticles, thereby preventing light from reflecting.

2. Wet your curly hair before detangling it with a suitable type of brush.

It’s more difficult to untangle your curly or frizzy hair when it’s dry. Therefore, it would be best to brush your tresses after taking a bath or putting on some hair oil or lotion. Moisturizing your hair will help smoothen the cuticles, making it easier for you to comb your hair.

3. If you can’t fix your dry hair with your detangling brush, use your fingers.

If your hair is frizzy or curly, you may need to be extra careful when managing your locks. They could get tangled while you’re fast asleep, giving you bed hair. If you don’t hold the right kind of brush to detangle your hair, you may break your strands or cause them to fall out. Hence, wet your hair first before running through strands using your fingers.

4. To prevent overbrushing, tie your hair with a ponytail holder.

Overbrushing isn’t good for your tresses. Hence, it’s essential to keep your hair in place to prevent brushing them all the time. Use an elastic band to tie your strands, but don’t tie your hair tightly to prevent hair breakage.

5. Brush and blow-dry your hair after air-drying.

Brushing your hair using a paddle brush can help add volume to your hair, but it isn’t advisable to use it for blow-drying while your hair’s still wet. Your tresses become vulnerable when it’s wet, so brushing your damp hair while blow-drying can overstretch the strands and damage them. You can do the safest thing by air-drying your hair for at least fifteen minutes before blow-drying it while stroking with a soft-bristled paddle brush.

6. Cleanse your brushes thoroughly and regularly.

It is essential to wash your brushes regularly for sanitary purposes. Whenever you comb your hair, gunk, sebum, and hair products may stick on the bristles. If you use your brush again without cleaning it, you’ll just return every little dirty thing on your hairbrush to your scalp, which is very unhygienic and threatening to hair growth

7. Always moisturize your hair with a conditioner.

To brush your hair comfortably, you should always apply a hair growth conditioner for softer and smoother locks. Conditioning your tresses with this product helps you lock in enough moisture to avoid frizz and tangles on your hair, making it easier to brush it.

Brush Your Hair with Tender Loving Care.

Brushing isn’t just a simple step. You have to consider the type of hairbrush to use, the frequency of hair brushing, and the tools and products you use while combing your tresses. It’s also important to keep your brushes clean to keep hair and scalp issues at bay. Follow these hair brushing tricks, and you’ll be steps closer to having the best hair ever.
