In order to celebrate the empowerment of successful women, we had the chance to interview Artaisha Jenkins and discuss her successes, as well her advice that she gives to female entrepreneurs.

What inspired you to start the company?

“I started Federal Staffing Solutions because I genuinely love being able to find job seekers employment opportunities. I have been doing this since 2016 and have been able to support candidates by giving them access to employment above and beyond my internal hiring needs; by having job placements with our clients on a national level. Our positions are often in support of the federal government, but we proudly support all types of employers.”

What advice can you give to female entrepreneurs who want to start a company?

“Planning is imperative to long-term success! You have to plan for both the success and potential failure of your business. As dreaded as the time-consuming ‘business plan’ is, it is imperative in understanding the multiple routes which you can take to reach your ultimate destination of being a successful entrepreneur!

Also, before you launch, take the time to learn more about your industry trends and competitors. Analyze your competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, while learning to exploit opportunities within your industry. Ask yourself, “What are my competitors doing well? What areas within the market are my competitors overlooking?”. Find your niche’ at the intersection of these areas! Though this can be time consuming, it may help to alleviate future pitfalls and solidify the success of your business.”

Can you tell us more about your book that you’ll be publishing?

“My book is titled “Thriving During Periods of Unemployment: A Comprehensive Guide for Job Seekers”. The book is geared towards encouraging the many who have been forced into unemployment by the COVID-19 pandemic or those facing unemployment in general. My book touches on everything from mental wellness, to job search & networking skills, and provides example resumes/ cover letters. It also provides information on government resources which dislocated workers can use for education benefits.

It is an exciting, new project for me and I cannot wait for it to be published in Fall. I want to continue to help job-seekers and provide them with tools to be used towards successful job-searching.”

How did Federal Staffing Solution Inc start out?

“As an experienced business leader with more than fifteen progressive years of experience driving superior operations and overall corporate performance, my expertise is in successfully creating and implementing strategic operational processes. Furthermore, I am an expert at coaching and developing employees, and managing business development efforts to realize multimillion-dollar revenue increases within the professional services sector.

Federal Staffing Solutions Inc., headquartered in the Washington DC metropolitan area, was born from a combination of my experiences and partners with Human Resources professionals, Executives, and Solopreneurs to develop and/or deliver leading staff augmentation solutions. As well as, provides job-seekers with job-readiness and skills training.”

Can you tell us one thing that you are passionate about?

“It’s difficult to choose just one, I am passionate about the plights of the African American community, especially since I am African American woman and raising African American children. I am also passionate about access to education and financial literacy for minorities. Lastly, I have a passion for the alleviation of systematic racisms in the workplace.”

Which female entrepreneurs do you admire?

“I admire women entrepreneurs such as Janice Bryant Howroyd (founder of AppleOne), Oprah Winfrey, and Michelle Obama. They are powerful women in our society that have gone above and beyond to show that women can achieve career heights that many can only dream of. I see them as role models, just like them I wish to inspire other female entrepreneurs to exceed expectations and trailblaze.”
