It doesn’t matter whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned actor; you should always sharpen your acting skills whenever the necessity arises. Acting skills are what make or break an actor. Therefore, you need to pay extra attention and detail when selecting an acting class to attend.
There is no shortage of excellent acting classes. But how do you decide which is the best acting class for you? How do you identify the class that will help take your career to the next level?
Don’t be overwhelmed. We are here to give you tips on how to find the right acting class. But before we do that, check out our acting class – The Actor’s Group Orlando.
Now, back to business. Below are tips that our acting coaches believe will help you find the right acting class.

Whenever we start working on something, we always have an end goal in mind. So what are you trying to achieve in our class? And no, we are not talking about ‘being an excellent actor.’ We want you to dig deeper and come up with more specific goals.
These are some of the questions that will help you identify your goals. Once you identify your goals, it will be easier to identify an acting class that’ll help you achieve them.
The idea here is to have a bigger idea of what you’re getting into. Thorough research is essential. Some acting classes will look good on paper but are they the right fit for you? If you’re going to invest your money and time, you need to be sure.
Google reviews, Facebook reviews, and Facebook actor groups are excellent places to start. They’ll help you vet the teacher and assess the quality of the class.
However, this is just the start. Try to find former students and ask them about their experience in the acting class. Also, try to talk to agents, casting directors, and other actors and see what they think about the acting school.
Collecting information from different sources will help you make an informed decision.
Class size matters because it determines the amount of attention you receive from your acting coach. So, ideally, select an acting class that has few students. It would be best for you to avoid joining classes where the acting coach partners you with a scene partner. Scene partners provide acting coaches with a reason to pack their classes. Hence the amount of attention they give you reduces.
And we don’t think you’d be willing to stake your future on an acting coach who doesn’t give you the attention you require.
Before joining an acting class, you need to make sure that there is chemistry between you and your future acting coach. It would be best if you also were confident that you could trust them to push you when necessary.
The acting coach’s job is to help you move out of your comfort zone. Only then will you improve and achieve your goals. You can’t eliminate the obstacles standing in your way if you can’t trust your acting coach to guide you.
The last thing you need is to take part in an acting class, and once it’s over, you’re kicked to the curb. An acting class should include marketing as part of its training to help actors build connections in the industry.
Helping potential actors learn how to approach casting directors, managers, and agents is crucial to their careers. The best way to determine whether an acting class will help you build connections is to look at the number of former students working in the industry.
The final tip might look out of line with our previous tips, but it’s crucial. If there is one person you should trust with your career, it’s yourself. We’re sure you know what an instinct or gut feeling is.
When you’re trying to select the best acting class for you, that feeling you have in your gut is a lot more important than you might realize.
To determine what your instincts are telling you, you need to ask yourself this question. Does the idea of attending a particular acting class excite you or sadden you?
It’s important to challenge yourself, but you should avoid taking action if it doesn’t feel right.
