LiFePO4 batteries are compact and functional, lightweight, durable and optimal for any application. To protect the battery from overcharge and overdischarge, BMS board is equipped with it that prevents from long excess of discharge current. The capacity if is more than 40 amperes, it will be supplemented with balance sheets.
In terms of their advantages, the devices are far ahead of their “brothers”, do not have a memory effect and are chemically and thermally stable, non-toxic and not subject to self-ignition. The minimum cycles with enhanced operation is at least 2000 (with 100% discharge). If used gently, the cycles are 8000 (if not discharged more than 80%).
The assembly of a LiFePO4 battery compromised in a series-parallel connection of the device cells. The connection requires connectors, insulating materials, charger, soldering iron, cable, LiFePO4 cells, and contact welding. After we get all things, batteries are then aligned and glued together according to pre-selected scheme. Now we need to remove technological patch from each jumpers using knife or solder. A Balance bar and a power wire is then connected. In case of short circuits, we need to use heat shrink.

LiFePO4: Assembly According To The Rules
The important point to keep in mind is to use same batch cells, otherwise, we need to guide them according to their internal resistance. It is recommended to not test new products for capacity.
To sum up the voltage across cells, it is necessary to design the battery in the series form. It helps to unchanged the capacitance indicator. We need to balance the elements because each element will have different charge time.
If we are connecting in Parallel connection, the cells are not needed to be balanced. It assumes that sum of capacitance and the voltage parameter is unchanged.
The setup of LiFePO4 battery assembly is very easy but the process involves requires focus and safety precautions. In safety precautions, we need to wear goggles, safety gloves, and if needed helmet for work. It is also important to protect from any mechanical shock. Further, it is not possible to close terminals on different polarity (both available on the batteries and on electrodes). It is necessary to tin the terminals or solder them before installation of the structure.
The connection is made from:
- Spot welding
- Soldering
- Bolted connection
The first one is best for self-assembly. It is the most effective way and requires no mastery in skills. The second option is suitable to be done with strong powerful soldering iron. They must not be exposed to contacts for more than couple of seconds. The last one is most convenient option to go with. It is best to assemble LiFePO4 battery from cells which have bolted connection.
Benefits of Using LiFePO4 Battery
- Long life battery and high safety.
- It requires low maintenance.
- The battery has very low self-discharge. It means it will not recharge 2% every month when stored.
- Due to high energy density, the weight and volume of batteries are greatly reduced.
- Easy to recharge and use.
- It is an ideal battery type for Emergency Power Supplies (UPS).
- Eco friendly material used that are produced with less energy.
- Stores more energy than lead-acid batteries.
- Have deep discharge rate which improves versatility.
