How to become a successful writer?

It is one of the most commonly asked questions among aspiring writers about how they can become a successful writer. However, the answer to this question is – there is no infallible guide that can make you a successful writer like Georges Simenon or J. K. Rowling. But does that mean you cannot be a successful writer? Well, of course, no.

5 Simple Steps To Become A Successful Writer:

As an aspiring writer, you can follow some specific steps that could help you in the path of becoming a successful writer. Therefore, in this article, I am going to share some of the best steps that you can follow to become a successful writer:

#1. Write every single day.

It is an undeniable yet very essential and most challenging thing to do. Initially, it would be a bit difficult to develop a daily writing habit, but in the long run, it is the best way to unlock the potential of your creativity and to hone your writing skills.

However, don’t push yourself too hard to write four or five pages a day in the initial stage. A 15 to 20-minute daily schedule would be far more than sufficient for beginners. Also, don’t care about what you are writing. Instead, write whatever you want to.

#2. Read every single day.

Reading is an essential thing that aspiring writers should care about. Reading other people’s work will help you to understand what are the different ways to write similar stuff, how to push through writer’s block, and much other stuff.

You can also learn from their mistakes, and overall, it will help you to polish your writing skills. The more good quality writing stuff you consume, the better writer will become.

#3. Always have a second pair of eyes.

Every successful writer needs someone who can help in proofreading and editing the piece that they have crafted. It is essential because as a writer, you write stuff, and definitely, you will love it. But as a writer, we don’t know how it sounds to other people.

Therefore, having someone who can give their quick feedback about your work can make a big difference. As you are reading this, you might be someone who has just started writing, and in these initial stages, probably, you cannot afford a proofreader.

I have been through a similar phase and what I can suggest to you here’s to find a friend who shares similar interests.

Tip: Grammarly Premium can help you write error-free content by explaining the cause of an error. This way you can also improve your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. The cost of Grammarly Premium is $29 per month, but if you wait for deals like Grammarly Black Friday, you can save huge. It will only cost you around $7-8 per month if you wait for an offer from the official team of Grammarly, Inc.

#4. Spend time on research.

I have seen a lot of young writers who don’t give much value to researching. Even I, myself, when I started my journey as a writer, I just wanted to write.

But now, after all these years of experience, I have realized that researching is a very crucial part of the writing process. It helps to make a system to organize all your ideas and other stuff.

Even one of my favorite writers, Robert Greene, who has written six international bestsellers, has also admitted the importance of research for writing. According to him, he reads almost 300-400 books about a specific topic to understand that topic very thoroughly.

#5. Make a writing workspace for you.

Ask any successful writer, and they will tell you the importance of having a writing workspace for them—solitude and quietness help to trigger the deep thoughts that improve our creativity. Although things would be different for you, most of the writers admire being alone while crafting some good work.

A prominent example of this is Jonathan Franzen. He once told in an interview that he literally removed the WiFi card and glued the ethernet connection port of his computer just to seek solitude.

He did that just because he didn’t want to get distracted because of the internet. I am not telling you to do something like that but just make a workspace where you can work without distractions.

Conclusion

There you have it – my favorite tips that could help you to become a successful writer.

The meaning of being successful can vary from person to person. Some people are happy with simple living, whereas, for some people, having recognition or money can be the way to measure success. Therefore, I suggest you come with a term that defines success for you.

However, one thing is ubiquitous to be successful, and that is good writing skills.

With that said, here I am wrapping up this article. I hope it helped you to understand how you can become a successful writer.
