How to Bring Your Garden to Life

Whether you would class yourself as having green fingers and you love nothing more than getting totally stuck into planting and weeding in your spare time or the garden is just an area you like to relax in during the summer months, many of us could do with sprucing up the backyard. Perhaps you’re feeling a little bored with the current design and would like to mix it up a little. It could be that it is quite plain and drab and you want to inject some life into it. Possibly you want to utilise the space differently. Whatever it might be, redesigning your garden is an exciting thing to do and almost everybody is quite capable of doing a lot of the work themselves if they wanted to. Whether you are choosing to do this or you would rather have professionals in to do it on your behalf, you will need to plan it out and at least concoct some ideas towards its look.

Trees and Plants

No garden is complete without the natural elements within it. Unless you want a plain lawn, you need to consider what plants and trees you would like to have. Do you want something colourful and vibrant or more muted tones? Do you have a favourite flower that you want to work into it? Whatever it might be just choose what you like but consider a couple of things. You want the colours to complement each other nicely but also do some research on how much upkeep they will need. If you don’t want to be doing a lot of gardening you should avoid choosing any varieties which need a lot of care and attention. Palm trees for example, they look beautiful. But what people don’t realise is that they actually need a lot of maintenance to keep that tropical holiday or California vibe. These trees need regular palm pruning as maintenance about every 12 months.

On the other end of the scale, maybe you have an over grown garden that makes the Amazon look well maintained. As mentioned before some trees are a complete nuisance as they shred. Leaving you in disappear. You may want to clear your property these trees so you don’t have the burden of clean your garden 24/7. You do need to be aware that some trees are a protected species by law. So, before you go ahead and make any major tree removal decisions, be sure to consult with an certified expert like AB Trees.

Water Features

Introducing an area of water into your garden can instantly transform it into a place of serenity and tranquillity. Maybe you would like a pond and some fish? This can be a joy but consider this carefully if you have any children due to the obvious hazards potentially involved. Features such as water pools or fountains are also quite popular as the sound of water in the garden adds to the relaxing vibe. Note as well that having some sort of water feature in the garden is the best way to attract wildlife into your garden.

Garden Furniture

Consider this at the same time as designing everything else. Many people completely miss this out and it can end up that your beautifully styled garden loses a lot of its effect through cheap plastic furniture being dropped into the middle of it. Look at different styles and choose something which ties into the overall look rather than detracting from it. Simple choices like whether you go with wooden furniture as opposed to sleek metal furniture will make a really big difference.

Paving

Natural stone colours always look great in a garden. In fact even if you want to pick bright a bold colours the use of paving in your garden can be used for just decorative reasons or to create a path or a patio. With the wealth of paving supplies on the market now you can make some big design choices by selecting certain hues, textures and patterns. As with everything else incorporate this into your initial plans so it works well with its surroundings.
