If you want to buy the right laptop for yourself and looking to invest in something right for the next 3-4 years. You can learn how to pick the right laptop with the required features.
In the market, there are numerous brands available. But not every brand is right and not every brand gives what they offer.
Here are some of the features you can choose from:
Devices with less than 4 GB of RAM today are unlikely to cope with even basic tasks. The DDR3 standard is already considered obsolete, and the most widespread is DDR4. With an equal amount of memory, the latter works more efficiently and more stable, which is why it has conquered a significant part of the laptop market.
In the middle segment, you can count on 6 or 8 GB of RAM – this will give more options in terms of multitasking, smooth animation and application launch speed. And gaming models get 32 GB or more.Despite the difficulties in upgrading laptops, it is the RAM that can be easily changed if desired, so you can add a RAM bar after purchasing the device
Today, two types of storage are relevant – HDD and SSD. The first is characterized by some leisurely, but impressive capacity (most models are 1 TB), and the second offers less space (usually 256-512 GB), but higher data transfer speed and greater reliability. An SSD has no moving parts, which means it’s harder to damage it. Of course, there are also large SSDs with a capacity of 1–4 TB and even higher, but they also have a high price.
Sometimes there are models in which both drives are presented, in which case the software can be stored on an SSD for fast loading, and the content arrays can be stored on the HDD.
Undoubtedly, IPS-matrices are of better quality than TFT. They provide more realistic color reproduction, wide viewing angles and sufficient contrast. TFT screens show themselves worse in direct sunlight, and besides this, they make the picture dark if you look not directly, but at an angle. OLED and AMOLED matrices are distinguished by brighter colors and higher definition, but such a bright picture can cause discomfort from habit. And yes, such screens are more expensive.
In terms of resolution, Full HD (1920 × 1080) will give a more detailed and sharper image than HD, so it has become a priority for displays up to 17 inches. Although, of course, this is not the maximum value. But the question is, do you need a large resolution on a relatively small monitor, if, say, you don’t even plan to display it on a 4K TV?
Battery capacity is secondary – energy consumption is considered to be an important factor providing truly impressive autonomy. Integrated video and a simple processor will last much longer than a discrete card in tandem with a powerful chip. In addition, one must understand that the operating time declared by the manufacturer is for some ideal conditions. In reality, everything will depend on how you use the device, how heavy applications you run and what brightness you set on the monitor. So even if you are promised over 13 hours of battery life, you shouldn’t count on that time.
Fast charging technologies are helpful if you frequently move around town or travel. They will shorten the time for replenishing the energy reserve and bring the device back to life faster after active use.
All these features vary from laptop to laptop. Its your own choice to pick the one that suits your requirements.
