What could be the worst thing happen to a tech-savvy guy? In my opinion, I will be so hurt if my laptop gets spills with tea, coffee or water. As it often happens, the soon you spill a glass of water, you find your notebook right underneath. Stats show that a large number of notebooks die due to spills and that happens to almost everyone. So, what you can do about a waterlogged laptop? Is there a way to save it? Probably yes! Let’s find out the best way to fix a waterlogged laptop:

What You Will Need?

You will need:

  • Compressed Air
  • Towel
  • Screwdriver

Repairing A Water Damaged Laptop

If you end up spilling soda or anything else with sugar on to your laptop, you’re probably going to lose your laptop. Well, that’s because as soon as it will dry out, it is going to stay there forever. In such a scenario, your only hope would be Master Computer experts who might be able to fix it with deionized water. For such laptop repair in Perth, you have to be patient as it can even take weeks before your laptop could be used again.

For simple water spills, you’re lucky to be able to save it even on your own. Still, it is very important that you act quickly and unplug the laptop first. If even by accident, you start your laptop, it could lead to permanent damage due to electrical short. So, better calm down and dry it out first.

Once you have your machine unplugged, take out components like CD drive, battery, keyboard, and hard drive. Some of these parts might require you to use a screwdriver for removing them. Do as instructed in the manual.

Drain out any water by tilting the machine to aside. Use a towel and make sure that the liquid doesn’t get in contact with the display while you remove parts and drain the machine.

Shake it gently to ensure the liquid gets out of all the nooks and corners. After that, use some compressed air to dry out the case on the inside. You can also put your machine close to a cooling or heating air vent to dry out overnight. Wait until it is fully dried out.

Once everything has properly dried out, put it back in place and start your machine. Hopefully, it will work just fine. If it is working properly, let the machine run for some time and get rid of any remaining droplets or condensation. If it fails to start, you should better consider buying a new one because you’re out of luck. Or, just give it a visit to a repair shop and hope that it works.

Wrapping up, I will not suggest you keep your coffee mug or a water glass with coffee or water. Your working space should be used for work only. Do not bring foods or eat foods in front of your laptop.
