How To Handle Bedbugs Infestation

Is your home or your office infested by bedbugs? If yes, you’re in the right place to learn how to handle them. Bedbugs are parasites that survive on the blood of humans and animals. If you have bedbugs in your home and you didn’t check your clothes well before leaving home, they might have stuck to the cloth only to drop from your body when you’re in a public place. This can be so embarrassing. If you have bedbugs in your house and you don’t know how to handle them, you can hire a Bed Bug Exterminator Las Vegas. You can also follow the tips below. The following are the tips on how to handle bedbugs infestation:

Find Where They Are Hidden

If you don’t know where the bedbugs are hidden, how then can you eliminate them? The first thing you, therefore, need to do is to find where they’re hidden. Some of the places you need to check are the cracks on walls, wallpaper, sockets holes, beds, chairs, rugs, carpets, and so on. You should also check where your clothes are being kept, which can be your wardrobe or your laundry basket. You must find every corner where these pests are. If you leave a single place unchecked, the bedbugs there can bring about a new cycle even when you think you’ve eliminated them. Once you identify every corner where the bedbugs are, you can then move to the next stage.

Contain The Infestation

Immediately you find out where the bedbugs are hidden, the next thing you need to do is to contain the infestation. This will prevent the bedbugs from reaching other parts of your apartment. How will you go about this? You should bring out all the infected clothes, bedsheets, and their likes, then, run a vacuum through them. You should do the same thing for your carpets, rugs, and other places where you find the pests. When you vacuum those places, you should empty the content of your vacuum in a plastic bag and tighten it appropriately if you can burn the plastic bag together with its content, good for you. If you can’t, you should keep it in your waste bin, but remember to tighten it carefully before being dumped. You should then take your linens and your clothing and subject them to warm washing. You should set your washer and dryer to the highest possible temperature. If you’re not ready to wash your clothes and your linen, you should keep them in plastic bags, tighten it appropriately, and safely keep it until you’re ready to wash. If you have other items that can’t be washed, you should keep them in the dryer for about 30 minutes and set it to the highest temperature. This is an essential process because bedbugs and their eggs can’t withstand high heat.

Kill The Bedbugs

You can kill bedbugs through chemical or non-chemical methods. The non-chemical method requires that you subject them to a high heat of 115°F (46°C). They can’t also withstand intense cold temperatures. Therefore, you can subject them to a temperature of 32°F(less than 0°C). The chemical method includes the use of compounds like Pyrethrins and pyrethroids, Pyrroles like chlorfenapyr, and Plant oil-based products like EcoRaider, among others. If you seek the service of a professional Exterminator, they’re likely going to use substances made of any of these compounds to kill the bedbugs in your home.

Check The Affected Area Again

Bedbugs don’t leave quickly. You may think you’ve eliminated them only to find them a few days again in your home. This is possible because it is likely that there are still some remaining bedbugs that you haven’t killed. Perhaps, their eggs may also hatch to bring about a new cycle. This is why you need to monitor the places treated. You should check the treated places at least once a week. If, after a few weeks of continuous monitoring, you can’t find the activities or traces of bedbugs, you may have just won the battle. You can then live safely in your home again. If, on the other hand, you found the traces of bedbugs during your monitoring, you shouldn’t hesitate to apply your treatment again. If you repeat this process often and refuse to give up, it’s only a matter of time before your home will be bedbugs free.

Next time bedbugs are infesting your home or your office; these are the simple ways to handle them.
