How to keep children entertained at home during lockdown

If you work a nanny job or as an English Governess, then chances are that you are spending a bit more time within a home setting entertaining and schooling the children that you are employed to care for.

For many nanny’s entertaining children comes naturally do to them, which is why they will think about working through a nanny agency to take care of children. However, even the best nanny can start to run out of ideas after a while.

To help to keep you sane and to also provide the children in your care with something to keep them entertained; here are our top tips on how to keep children entertained during this Covid-19 lockdown.

Water painting outside

If you have younger children in your care then the good news is that they can often be easier to keep entertained at home than older ones. Water painting is a great outside, low mess activity to do with younger children. Find a spot outside that has a patio or a path and give them a pot of water and some paint brushes. They can paint away on the floor and you know that they won’t be making any mess.

Make a scavenger hunt

You should never underestimate the power of a scavenger hunt. You can either create one which asks them to find things that would commonly be outside in the garden, or if you think that they will tire of this quickly, then you could always make your list with set items and then hide those things away for them to find.

Camp in the garden

Lots of families are missing holidays at the moment, but who says that you can’t have a holiday whilst you are at home? If you have a tent that you can use, then set up pitch in the garden and let the kids camp out without having to worry about going anywhere or being too far away from all those home comforts.

Set up a Facetime party

If you know that the kids are missing their friends, then why not arrange for a Facetime party for them and one or two of their friends. You can think of some long-distance games for them to play and set it up just like you would a normal party. Albeit one that is entirely virtual.

Play a board game

It might sound obvious and pretty traditional as an idea, but board games are a great way to spend some time and are fantastic for keeping a range of ages entertained. There are so many classic family board games to choose from that you won’t ever run out of options!

Once everything is back to normal, whatever normal can be, then you might want to think about starting a career as a nanny. Finding an expert nanny agency in London or a Governess agency can help to kick start your career. In addition,  a high paid nanny or governess job might well be the way to travel and help recover from the financial effects of 2020.
