How To Prepare Your House For Painting;

Repainting the house is a great idea. If you are looking into keeping the sheen or a full remodeling, you cannot exclude painting. There are a couple of rules to adhere to before painting the house and in this article, I would like to highlight How To Prepare Your House For Painting. Meanwhile, see here for painters North Melbourne.

How To Prepare The House For Exterior Painting.

Preparing the house for exterior painting is relatively a lot of work. Also, the physical labor depends on how large the house is or how large the painting area is. These tips will ultimately remove contingencies and help you save time along the way.

  1.       Choose your colors. Choose if you haven’t two tones, pick a design and speak to the painter if you won’t be doing it yourself.
  2.       Purchase your paint; before buying the paint ensure the paint purchased tally with the surface to be painted.
  3.       Clean the Surfaces; Scrub and thoroughly wash the surfaces and ensure they are rid of dirt, chalk, mold, and mildew. This way, the rollers move along the surfaces monthly and the paint won’t crack while you wait for it to dry.
  4.       Make all the repairs necessary, be it hinges or lightning, or even plumbing. Ensure you are thorough.
  5.       Scrape off any loose paint especially if there are a lot of cracks or a lot of paint dangling.
  6.       Cover all plants, windows, and other surfaces you wouldn’t want the paint to ruin in plastic.
  7.       Apply painter’s tape to the doors and windows. These are often more effective than plastic.

How To Prepare The House For Interior Painting.

Painting the interior of your home, either by yourself or hiring a painter, below are some of the steps you should have done a couple of days or the day before the painting day.

  1.       Move all the furniture; if you can move all the furniture, it is always in your best interest to do this especially if the ceiling will be painted too, you do not want droplets on your furniture.
  2.       Take down all pictures, medals, and every other thing on the walls. The walls will be painted after all. Do take down all the curtains also.
  3.       Clean the house. Remove every stain, cobweb and also wash the walls if need be.
  4.       Cover everything that cannot be moved in plastic. This includes finishing, shelves, windows, and even doors.
  5.       Cover doors in painters tape,
  6.       Caulk the windows if need be and then air out the house.
  7.       Unscrew all light bulbs and lamp holders if you would still like to hang art and medals, leave the nails in place.

Conclusion.

Painting the home as a DIY could get messy, be on the safer side and cover your valuables. On the other hand, if you are getting a painter, you should still cover your valuables even though they wouldn’t get so messy. All in all, have fun remodeling.
