How to Promote your Podcast in Social Networking Sites

Podcast are becoming highly popular, especially now that audiences are looking for new ways to entertain themselves due to the current coronavirus crisis. This is also a good way to promote your brand, or to share your knowledge regarding a certain topic.

You will find a wide range of sites that offer proper broadcast production services in case that you decide to launch your own piece.

Following a recent article, half of all homes in the US, which is over 60 million homes, are podcast fans. Therefore, it is key to reach the maximum number of audiences to promote your podcast. There is a wide range of options in terms within the social media channels to promote your podcast and make the most of its coverage.

Increasing podcast popularity is not an easy task, as iTunes alone has more than 500,000 podcasts. Competition is hard, but if your content is rich and your aim is to share it with the right audience in the right channel, impossible is nothing. Hence, I will share here ten fabulous ways to promote your podcast in your social media channels and increase engagement.

Invite influencers and knowledgeable people

If you do have a network of professionals and experts on the same niche, invite them and make the most of their reputation. Choose them wisely and make sure that they have a well-known name and a big list of followers. This is important for you to do because these established personalities would share their content with their audiences, which might give you more public (and followers). Experts will give your content a new and fresh style.

Choosing the right platform

Be aware of the fact that the social media channels where you share must have a connection with your purpose. For example, if you were launching a business or a finance podcast, the best idea would be to utilise LinkedIn to share it. On the other hand, if your piece is more informal, maybe lifestyle or gaming related, the best channels would be Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat or Instagram.

Use your personal social media to share previews of the content

Divide your piece into small, meaningful chucks to share them separately. This way you will promote your content in an original and engaging way, without having to repeat yourself over and over.

Participate actively in other related podcasts

This is another best way to attract a different public to your content, while increasing your network. Work on that chain of exchange and things will become easier for both sides, as everyone wants to share their work.

Publish a blog post every time you launch a podcast

Make the most of your blog and share your podcasts there! If you do not own one, this would be the perfect moment to create one. You will attract a new segment of the public from the platform, increasing its online visibility.

Share it through Facebook Live

This is a very useful extension of Mark Zuckerberg’s social networking site, which will enable you to broadcast your piece in real-time. It would be a good idea to send Facebook messages to your public here to let them know that your podcast will be soon of public domain.

Organise a raffle

Generating participation using raffles or contest might be a very original way to gain traction from the general audience. For example, you could offer a free voucher to watch free movies online, or you could even give a holiday trip package. Try to get sponsors to share these awards, and you will avoid expending too much money.

Don’t forget about internal social media promotion

When using apps such as Facebook or Twitter, try to use the most suitable hashtags to reach the maximum number of audiences. Make your profiles public and keep adding comments to other users interactions. Be as much interactive with the public as you can.

Accept a guest contribution from time to time

Helping each other’s to promote content is the best strategy to become popular. Try to establish collaborations and contributions in your pieces and offer this to your contributors as well. Life would be so much easier if everyone tried to share his or her skills for a good purpose.

Split it in small pieces and share them

Another great strategy to make your content shareable, and not repeat it too many times. Use a timeframe, and do not overload your online channels!
