How To Rid Your Home Of Clutter

There are lots of blog posts online about getting rid of clutter. However, the tips provided are useful for one day only. You follow the guidance regarding separating things into three piles – stuff to keep, stuff to get rid of, and stuff to give away. You then sort out your home and everything feels better. Nevertheless, give it a few weeks, and your back to a house filled with clutter again. And so the cycle repeats itself! So, how do you get rid of clutter once and for all? Here are some useful tips that should help you on your quest to a clutter-free life. Whether you’re clearing out your home ahead of using a professional cleaning service or you’re simply tired of things being everywhere, these tips will help.

Work in reverse – One of the reasons why you may be struggling to live a clutter-free life is because you are not getting rid of the right things, to begin with. The best way to tackle this is by working in reverse. Ask yourself this: If there was a fire in your house, and everything was destroyed, what items would you replace straight away? This will give you a list of all of the things that you actually need. These are the belongings that you should hold onto. After this, you can get rid of everything else – of course, that is not to say that you need to literally chuck out everything. However, you are going to be left with a pool of items that you can work with in terms of decluttering.

Make sure everything has its own place – Make sure that everything has its own place. Simply gathering a couple of items and sticking them on your kitchen table does not count as cleaning up clutter. Where do these items belong? If they do not have a specific place within the home, you either need to get rid of them or get rid of something else so they can be accommodated. If you are attached to these items, you can always look online and search for storage units and you will be met with a number of different options. This is a way for you to have a clutter-free home without throwing away any of your belongings.

Live by the one-in, one-out rule – Once your home is clutter-free, the reason why you have not been able to keep it this way is probably because you have purchased new things for the home or someone else has given you something for your house. This is where the one-in, one-out rule comes in. Whenever you buy something new for your home, you need to get rid of something else to accommodate it. This is the only way to make sure that you continue to live a clutter-free life for good.

So there you have it: some useful tips on getting rid of clutter once and for all. If you follow the advice that has been provided above, you should be able to banish clutter from your life forever. From operating the one-in, one-out rule to ensuring that everything has a proper place, if you abide by these rules, you should never have clutter in your house again.
