How To Upgrade Your Car Performance

Upgrading car’s performance is always a concerning task to do. But the good news is that it can be done in plethora of ways. Let’s check out some easy ways.

Easy Ways to Upgrade Car Performance

  1. Upgrading your car’s suspension Installing anti-roll bars or sway bars:

It is the first and one of the simplest upgrades you can make to your vehicle’s suspension. This is one of the best suspension upgrades for prolonged performance.

Essentially, an anti-roll bar is a lever connecting two opposite wheels. When cornering, the outside wheel and suspension experience significantly greater pressure than the inside wheel and suspension. This leads to a roll. When cornering, the anti-roll bar connecting two front or rear wheels is under tension, directly affecting the wheels.

This tension causes the anti-roll bar to lift the inside wheel, effectively reducing roll and leveling the car’s corners.

In contrast to the natural tendency of a vehicle to roll due to lateral forces encountered during high-speed maneuvering, it reduces body tilt during cornering, keeping the vehicle more level during turns and enhancing its handling.

  1. Decluttering the car

If you’ve owned your car for a while, many items may be stored in the trunk, glove compartment, and back seat. Although everyone keeps some essential things in their vehicle, removing some clutter can improve its performance and reduce engine strain.

If you have heavy or bulky items in your vehicle, consider removing unnecessary items to reduce the weight it carries. Keep your emergency items, such as your flat tire kit, but eliminate your non-essentials, like your golf clubs. Regardless of your vehicle type, removing excess weight improves your vehicle’s performance and may improve its fuel economy. The best aspect of this improvement is that it is free and straightforward to implement.

  1. Replace spark plugs and air filters

A clean air filter provides your vehicle with the necessary airflow for optimal performance. When spark plugs become worn, the engine must also work harder to perform. Ensuring the proper operation of these components or even upgrading them can result in improved performance, a healthier engine, and increased gas mileage.

Use a diagnostic tool to determine if these parts need to be replaced if you are uncertain. You do not need to be an expert to use a diagnostic tool; search for your vehicle to locate the OBD port, then use the code library to look up any diagnostic readings. This way, you can see what you need and avoid costly or unnecessary replacements.

Depending on the type of spark plugs your vehicle requires, you may spend between $10 and $40 per component. Before replacing your vehicle’s air filter, which could cost between $8 and $20, you’ll need to research the appropriate size and type.

  1. Replacing with more substantial tires-

Tires are crucial to the performance of your vehicle. Good traction determines your vehicle’s ability to transfer its power to the ground; it’s the difference between a good launch and burning your tires off the line. Most individuals opt for performance tires designed with a compromise between maximizing the tire’s “footprint” and permitting water-displacing tread.

Consider the speed rating of the tires you intend to purchase. The rating is typically a single letter indicating the tire’s maximum speed rating. Most automobiles are equipped with tires rated “S” for speeds up to 112 miles per hour. Numerous performance tires are rated for speeds over 149 miles per hour (Z rating). Some high-performance tires are noisier than their standard counterparts.

  1. Replace your shocks and springs with higher-performance alternatives

The shocks and springs in your vehicle’s suspension were designed and constructed for your comfort. To maximize convenience, the rest permits the wheels to move up and down to minimize the body of the vehicle’s response to bumps. Replacing these components with stiffer shocks and springs will reduce your ride comfort.

Still, the added stiffness will improve traction when accelerating, braking, or turning by keeping the tires in better contact with the road.

Coil-vers are adjustable springs and shocks that allow you to lower the vehicle and stiffen the ride according to your preferences and driving style.

Many more rigid suspensions also lower the vehicle, which reduces its center of gravity and improves its handling.

  1. Swap rubber bushings with polyurethane.

Many bushings separate the moving metal parts of your suspension, reducing vibrations and helping maintain your vehicle’s weight distribution. Unfortunately, the rubber used to make these bushings tends to degrade over time.

Polyurethane replacement bushings are significantly stiffer than their rubber counterparts and do not deteriorate as quickly as original bushings. If polyurethane bushings are not adequately lubricated before installation, they will make loud squeaking noises. You can replace bushings individually or by purchasing kits to replace them all at once.

Some bushings may require a press to be extracted from their respective housings.

  1. Install a strut tower bar

Strut tower bars are similar to anti-roll bars in that they connect the right and left sides of a vehicle but are installed on the top of the car under the hood and trunk lid.

These bars directly connect the driver’s and passenger’s side struts, increasing the vehicle’s structural rigidity and helping to keep the tires as flat as possible during aggressive driving. Also, they are an excellent addition to aftermarket anti-roll bars for reducing the lean and twist your vehicle exhibits during turns.

In some vehicles, it may be impossible to gain access to the rear strut towers to install a back bar. When working on your car’s engine in the future, you may need to remove the strut tower bars.

With that, hope our quick ideas help you to improve your car performance easily.
