Is an HVAC Maintenance Contract Worth It?

The increasing demand for service contracts is making multiple HVAC businesses adopt it. However, the question is: is it really worth it?

Adopting it is not rocket science as there are numerous ways to use it- like automated HVAC mainteance agreement software. You can create maintenance plans in a few minutes. But the question still remains the same:  is it relevant for your HVAC business to invest your time and money?

So, let’s take a closer look at the HVAC maintenance contract, what to include, and its benefits.

What is HVAC Maintenance Contract?

It is an agreement to provide HVAC maintenance services to the customers. It is between HVAC business owners and customers for a specific time. This agreement is also known as an HVAC maintenance contract or maintenance plan.

The contract is verbal or written and mutually agreed upon by the HVAC company and customer. The agreement might include signatures that make the maintenance agreement legally binding.

However, before signing the agreement, the customer pays for the services. It is also mutually decided and cannot be changed after being issued. Also, the services list offered by the company like mvhr service will be mentioned in the maintenance plan.

The purpose of the contract is preventive maintenance. It is meant to prevent issues or malfunctions that occur in the heating and cooling system. Eventually, it helps to improve the unit.

So, let’s learn factors that need to be included in the HVAC maintenance plan.

What to Include in HVAC Service Contracts?

Before providing a contract to the customer, you need to have a clear idea regarding the services you want to include in the HVAC maintenance plan.

Because if you have mentioned the name of the services and do not provide it, there will be a negative impact and ruin your reputation as a company. Therefore, cross verify and ensure the list of services you will include in the contract.

However, the services in the plan can vary from business to business. The maintenance agreements can be pretty basic, and the following list is the common services you need to include in the plan:

  • Checkups on heating and cooling unit
  • Inspecting the air filter and change if required
  • Emergency services
  • Checking and adjusting the thermostat
  • Tune-ups
  • Seasonal HVAC maintenance service
  • Cleaning blower
  • Inspecting and cleaning coil

Moreover, the service contracts are divided into three parts:

  1. Contracts covering annual and semi-annual plans include cleaning, checking, and filtering equipment.
  2. Contracts covering labor costs for planned visits and unplanned repair maintenance.
  3. Contracts covering labor costs for limited repair visits.

Benefits of HVAC Maintenance Plans

HVAC maintenance is not just a legal agreement but a helpful maintenance plan for business owners.

1) Frequent services

When the customer agrees to the maintenance plans, they do not have to call the HVAC service frequently. In addition, as often visit is a part of the contract, the customer does not have to seek services again and again.

As an HVAC business, you must schedule appointments and services for every customer. From this, you will be able to give attention and perform the task efficiently. Even in peak season, you do not have to fall into chaos and mismanagement.

Also, the HVAC units will be checked, so more time to understand the system better.

2) One visit

Your HVAC technician has to perform multiple tasks in one day. Several times, urgent tasks come up, and they have to leave one visit and go to another one. Here, it becomes difficult to manage.

But with the maintenance plans, the visit is fixed, and they do not have to do multiple visits because of advance planning. However, if the additional work like to Install MVHR comes up, then it is more manageable because of the scheduled task.

The prime reason for issuing maintenance plans is to provide efficient service to the customer. As a business owner, you want to offer the best to your customers, and an agreement makes it more transparent.

And that’s a wrap from our side; we hope you understand the HVAC maintenance plan.

Conclusion

Considering the points mentioned above, having an HVAC maintenance plan will be a fruitful decision for your business. With the contract, you can save money on costly replacements. Therefore, having an HVAC maintenance agreement is like an investment that will turn out beneficial in the future.
