Josco Energy Discuss How To Save Energy In A Business

There are numerous ways to save energy and reduce electricity bills within a business. Josco Energy look at 10 ways you can do just that.

1. Use better light bulbs

There are many energy saving light bulbs that are not only green but will save you a lot of money in the long run. They will actually use as much as 80% less electricity than typical bulbs and they last a lot longer as well.

2. Use motion sensitive lights

Next, according to Josco many businesses leave the lights on when no one is using them and this is quite wasteful. Instead, install motion sensitive lights that only come on when there are people in the room and come off when the room is empty. You should also use as much natural light as you can by opening the windows and pulling up the roller blinds during the day.

3. Don’t put on the A.C. too soon

You don’t even need to use air condition or heating during certain months, especially during autumn and spring. Heating isn’t necessary until the temperature goes under 21°C and A.C. isn’t necessary until the temperature is over 23 °C.

4. Efficiently use the A.C.

When using A.C. you should make sure that it doesn’t use more electricity than it needs by ensuring that all windows and doors are closed when it is on. Also, take off the air conditioning at night since it won’t be needed then.

5. Microgeneration

If you make your own energy, you can significantly reduce your electricity costs while also lowering your company’s carbon footprint on the environment. So, you can purchase and install solar photovoltaic panels that are easily powered up during the day.

6. Turn off all computers during the night

If you take off only one computer during the night and weekends, you can save your company as much as $35 every year. So, make sure and turn off all of the computers during these times for maximum savings.

7. Boil water as needed

Most people enjoy having tea on their breaks, however, you should take a look at the quantities of water that your staff are actually boiling. If they are boiling too much water, then this is wasting energy. By only boiling the exact amount that is needed, you can save a lot on electricity.

8. Keep your technology updated

Most old appliances and computers are not very energy efficient. So, you should strive to update your tech and appliances as needed since the modern models are made to reduce energy consumption.

9. Place posters about saving energy around the office

Make sure to keep your staff aware of the need to save energy through posting up relevant posters around the office.

10. Transport

Encourage employees to save energy in their commuting via using public transport, a bike or other modern greener forms of transport

11. Do an energy audit

Make sure that you keep track of your energy usage by checking the meter readings around your business compound regularly. This will help you to find areas that use more energy and determine how you can reduce consumption.
