There is so much more to snowboarding than just sliding down on a piece of wood from a mountain or a hill. One’s curiosity can lead to a hobby and eventually to a lifelong

Some people’s lives even changed because of snowboarding. They went to places they’ve never been before like New Zealand and even got featured in the National Geographic channel.

So, what is it like living the snowboarding dream? How and where should you start? What should you expect when you want to venture into this lavish dream and make it your passion?

Read through this article and see a glimpse of the snowboarding lifestyle. You never know the next thing that you will do is book a ticket to the nearest snowboarding resort and start your snowboarding journey. Caution: You will experience a lot of falls but it’s gonna be loads of fun.

A Lesson or Two From the Experts

There are a plethora of websites that you can find online about snowboarding that you could just easily read all free pieces of information right in the comfort of your home. But no matter how convenient it can be still, nothing beats a good lesson or two from an expert.

Whether you already have experience or a true newbie when it comes to snowboarding, getting lessons will prepare you for what you might encounter at the snowy hill or mountain.

Remember that all experts were once beginners. Take this opportunity to learn new skills and think of it as your first step in living that snowboarding dream. Taking a lesson can bring you to many places. It is always a great move.

Rise Above the Main Challenges

The physical challenge is not the only hurdle when it comes to learning snowboarding. The other main challenge and probably the biggest barrier is the mental challenge.

Any sport related to snow needs a load of perseverance. We are no Elsa because the cold will bother us. However, we can choose to be snow angels where we will have fun in the snow. You need to rise above these challenges.

Another mental challenge that you would be dealing with is related to learning new skills. Expect to look stupid and ridiculous while in the snowy mountains. It is normal to be vulnerable to falling and getting hurt when it comes to learning how to snowboard.

You need to be patient with yourself. Set aside your dignity for a while because looking stupid while learning is inevitable. If you can overcome these challenges, not only will you have lots of fun but you will also feel proud of what you have become.

Prepare your Gear and Equipment

Aside from the fact that you need to have both physical and mental strength, you also need a set of gears and equipment.

Good and proper equipment can either make or break your snowboarding experience. You can also buy a ski racks wall as top-notch equipment to hang your skis and snowboards to keep them safe in a neutral position. It can significantly affect your performance. It can either speed up your progress or drastically slow it down.

There are rental shops in snowboard resorts so you don’t have to worry and go the extra length into buying new equipment, especially if you are still starting. You can always opt for the beginner’s package.

Upon arriving in the office or the rental shop, you will be asked several questions like your weight, shoe size, and if you are regular or goofy.

Regular or goofy is the arrangement of your feet on the snowboard. Regular is when you prefer your right foot in the back while goofy is when you prefer to have your left foot in the back.

Be honest when it comes to answering because your equipment depends on the answers you have given.

Cover Up Yourself

After renting the basic equipment which is the boots and boards, there are other gears that you need to prepare to protect you from the harsh snow. Having enough and proper clothing can keep you warm throughout the day in the mountains.

Go for jackets and pants that have solid waterproofing and breathability. Have enough base and mid-layers that are functional to help keep your body warm and dry.

Also, it is highly recommended to choose loose-fit clothing to have freedom of your movement especially when you are still learning.

Having a facemask or neck warmer is a must when it comes to snowboarding. It prevents the wind and snow from coming to both your face and neck. Your hands are also just as delicate as your face and body. When it comes to choosing your gloves there are two options, you can either go for mitts or gloves. However, mitts have better insulation when it comes to snowboarding.

Goggles and helmets should also not be forgotten. It is advisable that you choose Fetop ski goggles for their stylish appearance and high quality that gives you a good peripheral vision and perfectly fits your face.

Beginners most likely fall often when snowboarding so, helmets are always a must. You also need to avoid a gap between your helmet and goggles.

If you have already got the glitch and improved your snowboarding skills, you can always buy extra accessories.

You can also make better changes in your gears and equipment. Remember that comfort comes before style or you can always do both. Also, to remind you once again that proper equipment can make or break your day in the mountains.

Conclusion

There is no such thing as too late or too early when it comes to living the snowboarding lifestyle. If you want it then go for it.

If you are still doubting yourself if you can make it, just do it anyway. The best teacher is experience. Do not be afraid to fall. Stand up, get back on track and have fun in the snow.
