Prince Steven Borjigin bridges cultures and religions in Louisville, Kentucky

On June 15th, Prince Steven Jorchen Borjigin paid a visit to the Old Catholic Church of Louisville, Kentucky. The historical moment of inter-religious exchange marked one of the high points since the recent re-erection of the Borjigin dynasty. The event was hosted by AGAPE SEMINARY-LOUISVILLE CAMPUS, which is under The Diocese of The Lamb of God of THE CHARISMATIC OLD CATHOLIC CHURCH. The Diocese of the Lamb of God is one of several that make up the Charismatic Old Catholic Church.  Their mission is to provide valid sacraments to those who have left Roman Catholicism and who are seeking forms of worship and beliefs founded in the traditions of the Early Church. The Diocese is under the ecclesiastical authority of Archbishop Maurice McCormick. During the ceremonial event, Prince Steven Jorchen Borjigin awarded the Bishop the Knight Commander rank of the Golden Horde Order.

Prince Steven Jorchen Borjgin is the 36th generation heir of Genghis Khan, who has united various ways of life, religions and cultures during the 13th century. The legacy of intercultural and interreligious dialogue is always a strength of the Royal house. Particularly in the sphere of Christianity, the Mongol dynasty had a very rich tradition. Prince Steven Borjigin carried on this powerful agenda, too.

In modern times the Mongols are mostly Tibetan Buddhists, but in previous eras, especially during the time of the Mongol empire (13th–14th centuries), they were chiefly shamanist, and had a substantial minority of Christians, many of whom were in positions of considerable power and prestige. In general, Mongols were highly tolerant of most religions, and typically sponsored several at the same time. Many Mongols had been proselytized by the Church of the East since about the seventh century, and some tribes’ primary religion was Christian.

Archbishop Maurice McCormick, the district deputy attorney general Ms. Morgan Hall, renowned psychologist Dr. Brian Beckham, Photographer Chris Hall were all at the presence of Prince Steven Jorchen Borjigin.
