Set Up Your Own Spa Day at Home

It’s been a long day and you have been working really hard. The day has brought you lots of stress and now it’s time to make that stress go away. Relax – you deserve it. Now, going to the spa may not be in your immediate budget but, did you know that you can enjoy the spa without spending a fortune? Below are some tips on how you can set up your very own spa day at home.

Moms are notorious for working hard and have the tendency to put everyone’s needs ahead of their own needs. They continue to please everyone else until they get burnt out. Well, Mom, it’s time to quit doing that – at least for now. It’s time to think of yourself right now. What can you do to make you feel good and to take care of you? Here are some frugal day spa ideas you can easily do from home.

* Block out some time where you can be by yourself. You can either get a babysitter or better yet, send the children off to grandma and grandpas for a sleepover. Turn the telephone and cell phone off. Don’t switch on the television; in fact, the only thing electronic device you might want going is soothing playing music in the background.

* Light some scented candles around your bathroom to create a relaxing ambiance. If you have a bubble bath, bath salts, or some essential oil in the same fragrance, that would be more better. You would be surrounded by your favorite scent.

* While you are soaking in the bathtub, use a facial mask that you can make with items found in your kitchen. Mix 2 tablespoons together of ground oatmeal, 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, and 5 drops liquid honey in a bowl. Apply to your face and allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes. Finish off by rinsing with warm water followed by a moisturizer.  If you have oily skin, make sure to find a moisturizer with exfoliant ingredients, If your skin is dry, look for a creamy lotion and face wash – they tend to have a higher oil content. Natural and organic-based bar soaps and lotions like avocado oil body lotions and natural goat milk soaps are the perfect go-to for all skin types as they are not only nourishing but they also have well-balanced ph levels.

* Pamper your nails and give yourself a manicure and pedicure while your finger and toenails are pliable. Rub moisturizer into your cuticles and trim them. When you are ready to exit the tub, don’t forget to slather peppermint food cream and try a shiatsu foot massager on your feet. They’ll feel energized and smell great!

What are some other things which you can do while you’re treating yourself to a frugal spa day at home? You can also take time to stretch or exercise which will invigorate your mind and give you the energy to spare. Doing some meditation can be both relaxing and rejuvenating.

Grab your pen and journal. Spend a little bit of your spa day journaling. Nothing makes us feel better about our lives than thinking about good things. Write about what you are thankful for. Who makes your day brighter by being in it? Think about things and people who make you smile.

These tips are all doable and inexpensive and can surely create a professional spa atmosphere to help you relax. Taking time regularly is important, not only for physical reasons but also for peace of mind. You deserve to take time out for yourself. Stop dilly-dallying … and start relaxing now!
