1. Traditional animation is a kind of animation (Cel animation)

As a result of light filtering between sheets piled on top of one another, an animator is able to view prior drawings in the sequence and may thus create following tables progressively in relation to the previous ones, leaving areas that do not participate in movement untouched (for example, background, foreground objects or other static elements).

When the pace of 12 frames per second is doubled to create a rate of 24 frames per second, this is often a sort of two-stage animation (with new graphics every 2 frames). For a dynamic feel, several scenes are carried out at 24 frames per second in the first stage (one for each frame).

2. Animation in two dimensions (2d animation)

It was in 1995 that the fledgling Pixar Animation Studios had been taken over by Steve Jobs from the LucasFilm division and run by veteran animator John Lasseter, former author of the first short film, The Tin Toy (1988). The film and animation industries will never be the same again after today.

What’s the procedure for doing this?

The movement of things in three-dimensional space is what causes animation. Polygon-based 3D models (morph target animation) allow the animator to freely animate objects or sections of the body by segmenting them, similar to how bones are divided to create movement. This approach is known as rigging and enables articulation and movement. Surfaces may be made to seem more realistic by applying one or more materials known as textures on top of the skeleton. Skeleton animation is a form of two-part representation that includes a skin, mesh, or texture and a skeleton.

Because it is a simulated 3D object rather than a drawing created from scratch every 1-2 frames, the protagonist of the movement is always visible in 3D animation.

4. Graphics for animation

The lack of people or a unifying narrative thread distinguishes moving graphics from traditional animation. As an alternative, it employs a variety of abstract forms and logos, as well as an assortment of animated text components, to generate a variety of advertising-industry-related material. With its flat design characteristics (particularly for online videos and social networks), it is often utilized in its 3D form for advertising.

5. Stop moving

Filmmakers started using stop-motion animation in the late 1800s to create “magical” movements in their productions. Georges Méliès was one such pioneer, often regarded as the father of special effects. However, Albert Smith and James Stuart Blackton’s Humpty Dumpty Circus is the first short film to use this method. King Kong, Tim Burton and Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox and Anomalia are examples of contemporary animated feature films that are worthy of a place in the pantheon of great animated films.

What’s the deal?

An actual inanimate item is physically manipulated to replicate its movement over time in this form of animation. As each frame is captured as a single shot, this is a one-step animation. Use of small scale sets and modeling puppets along with macro-optical cameras are all required in this process (at short focus distance). The models move in the scenography’s three-dimensional space to replicate both the movement of the individuals’ bodies and their interaction in space between each shot, as well as between photographs.
