We are generally taught the Golden Rule as youngsters, whether at home or in school. “Treat others the way you want to be treated” goes something like this. Of course, there are various variants on the wording, but the main point of this slogan is to treat others with regard and love. Because that’s how you’d like to be treated by others, right?

It’s a lovely gesture and an important thing to remember. However, there appears to be some ambiguity or forgetfulness when applying this to all aspects of life. The Golden Rule is something we learned on the playgrounds, but it relates to so much more than just sharing crayons.

We’ve somehow neglected to apply the Golden Rule to our professional lives and, more crucially, to recruiting. It also makes great sense. Applicants desire to engage with well-known companies that care about them. Companies seek out individuals who could serve and flourish in their jobs.

In the field of recruiting, the Golden Rule has its place. The moment is here, and the setting is your interview procedure.

What’s Wrong With Recruiting?

Applicants are usually disappointed by the attitude they experience during interviews.

“I applied months ago and have yet to hear back.”

I’ve had three interviews with the recruiter and still have no idea what the next step is.”

“Well, I made it to the last phase of interviews, but I’m still looking forward to hearing whether or not I’ve received an opportunity.”

Avoiding possibilities, misunderstandings, and uncertainty It does not appear to be Golden Rule-compliant behavior.

Do recruiters and recruiting groups, on the other hand, have enough time to handle each prospect with dignity and regard? Not at all.

It’s tough to anticipate recruiting organizations to go the extra mile and swiftly inform applicants of their situation or prepare others for forthcoming interviews when there’s barely enough time in the day to complete interviews.

Now is the best time to make a change

The Golden Rule for recruitment, in all truth, must have been brought to the recruitment world a long time ago. However, with advancements in innovation and a rising focus on candidate experience, now is the ideal time to implement beneficial improvements.

The talent management market is rife with technologies designed to assist recruiters in working faster, recruiters obtain greater information about their employees, and improve applicants’ perceptions of the employer brand. It’s past time for the human-centric industry to benefit from technological advancements!

The Golden Rule Isn’t Going Away.

Attempts to enhance the applicant encounter might be intimidating. However, nothing worthwhile comes easily.

There is a lot of proof that organizations that enhance their applicant experience have a favorable influence. Companies who spend in a positive applicant experience see a 70% increase in the caliber of their hiring! Predictably, the employer’s brand increases, and candidate interest skyrockets.

It’s a no-brainer to treat prospects nicely. It improves their quality of life and makes recruiting teams more effective.

The Golden Rule is here to stay, from the playground to your profession, and it’s here to change the recruiting world.
