The Marandi Foundation Is Saving Art And Supporting Disadvantaged Kids

Established in 2017 by Narmina and Javad Marandi, The Marandi Foundation has pledged to support the education and mental health of young people around the world and to support organizations providing the public access to art.

The organization provides publicity and financial support for a number of Charities and Organisations including The Royal Foundation, St Paul’s Schools, and The Serpentine Galleries. Thanks to The Marandi Foundations’ generous donations, these charities are able to continue to do their incredible work.

Below we have detailed some of the work these amazing organizations have done.

The Royal Foundation

One of the organizations The Marandi Foundation support is The Royal Foundation – run by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Royal Foundation supports and funds many campaigns to tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues.

One of the main outreaches of the Foundation is to support the mental health of young people around the world – they have been doing this through sponsoring training for mental health and social workers. As well as, encouraging celebrities to be more honest about their mental health, including their Heads Up campaign with the Premier League. The Duchess herself has opened up about her own struggle with Postpartum Depression.

More recently the Foundation has been providing support for NHS workers on the frontline during the Covid-19 epidemic.

During the pandemic, The Royal Foundation has been supporting mental health charities to allow them to continue to work with people, and have helped to provide extra mental health access and support for frontline and key workers.

This support has provided many isolated and overstressed people with the support they need to continue living through these unprecedented times.

Thanks to the support of groups like The Marandi Foundation, The Royal Foundation has been able to donate nearly £1.8 million to leading charities supporting the people of the UK  during the Covid-19 crisis.

Earlier this year the Royal Foundation announced that they would be sponsoring an international Climate Conservation Prize – in order to encourage a decade of repairs to the Planet’s ecosystems.

The Royal Foundation takes a modern, multi-faceted approach to improve the world, acknowledging that their projects need to be constantly evolving, and starting new drives when unexpected disasters arrive.

St Paul’s School

St Paul’s School is a London-based Academy that prides itself on ‘Excellence without Exclusivity’. The all-boys school offers a world-class education to children of all backgrounds.

The school differs from most top-ranked Academies as it chooses its applicants based on their academic merits, and all tuition fees are means-tested. Doing this opens up new opportunities to children from all backgrounds.

The school has Alumni in almost every area of society – including tech start-ups, teachers, politicians, sports stars, and scientists.

Through the donations of individuals and organizations like The Marandi Foundation the school is able to provide reduced tuition fees and bursaries to students in need. This support allows the boys at St Paul’s to succeed no matter what background they have.

The Serpentine Galleries

Champions of free art for all, for the last 50 years The Serpentine Galleries has been bringing pioneering, new art to the British Public. Since 1970 The Serpentine Galleries have been using their two locations to premiere rising stars of the art world – including artists in all areas of the British population.

This year The Serpentine Galleries, both locations can be found in London’s Kensington Park, are celebrating their 50th anniversary by continuing to shine a light on some of the key issues facing society today. This includes pieces on race equality, education, feminism, refugees, and the climate crisis.

It is a firm belief of the Serpentine Galleries that art should be free for all, and they continue to offer this to their audience through the generous donations of art lovers. In fact, 89% of their annual income comes from donors. The Serpentine Galleries believe that art is a national resource that benefits all areas of society.

Watercolour World

Watercolour World is a UK-based charity, with a truly global goal – to map, scan and display as many of the surviving watercolor paintings from before 1900. Watercolour World is attempting to create a world wide database that will allow people to access these huge arrays of art for free.

Before the invention of the camera many people, both professional and amateur, would use watercolor to record the world around them. Explorers, merchants, and soldiers used watercolors to record the incredible things they saw on their travels. Scientists used watercolors to create incredible diagrams, star maps, and life studies – many of which are still relevant today.

However, tragically a lot of older watercolor pieces are too fragile to display, or are often kept in store houses to make more space to display larger, oil paintings.

Through the work of Watercolour Word and the donors that fund their project, art lovers from all corners of the planet have access to these hidden treasures for free. Not only do they record work from museums, public collections, and galleries but they also work with a large number of private collectors to record as much of the rich history of watercolors as possible.

Watercolors are able to capture our world’s history in a way that words alone can’t. The donations they have received has allowed them to develop a new form of scanning artwork, that allows them to display the work in incredibly high resolution.

You can search the website using its world map, or keyword search function. Watercolour World also has a ‘wanted list’ of paintings they are searching for. This is something that they seek help from collectors and the public alike with.

The Marandi Foundation

Through their donations to the projects above, The Marandi Foundation are able to support so many people across the world during times of crisis, provide disadvantaged kids with great educational opportunities, and continue giving the general public access to free art.

Thanks to their donations The Marandi Foundation have been able to support frontline workers, including Doctors, Nurses, and Paramedics throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
