The Ultimate Guide To Home Pest Control

Pests are more than just a nuisance at home. Many of them carry diseases, some of which are deadly. It doesn’t matter where you live, you will face pests attempting to invade your home. It is in their nature to search out somewhere warm, with a plentiful supply of food and water; that is something that every home has.

Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to eliminate the issue.

Inspect Your Home

It doesn’t matter where you live, whether you need the Cheektowaga pest control or the local Rosemont pest control service. The point is that you need to get your home inspected.

This is the best way of identifying any existing pest problem. It is possible you already have pests and don’t know it.

If you do have an existing pest issue then the professionals can advise you regarding the most effective treatment option and even take care of it for you. At the least, you will know you are starting with a clean slate.

It is worth having this done annually to ensure your home remains pest-free.

Clean It

Perhaps the next most important step in pest control is cleanliness. It is time to give your home a spring clean. That means eliminating all clutter, it makes a great spot for pests to hide. You should also ensure that all opened food packages are placed in sealed containers, making your home much less attractive to pests.

Don’t forget to clean surfaces and floors regularly. Ideally, they should be swept and mopped with an antibacterial spray. This will kill any bacteria and destroy the food supply for your pests.

Seal Your Home

Cleaning and exterminator are both effective. But, the key to keeping your home pest free is not to allow them into the property in the first place. This means going slowly around your home looking for any gaps and cracks and then sealing them shut.

Pay particular attention to round the doors and windows.

Check For Leaks

All living creatures need water to survive. If you deprive pests of access to water they will not be attracted to or survive in your home. The best starting point is to check for leaks. Simply take a water meter reading and don’t use any water for a couple of hours. Check the reading again, if it has changed you have a leak that needs to be found and fixed. It can be difficult to find a pipe leaking inside your walls, you may need professional help.

Don’t forget to keep your gutters clear as if these overflow they cause dampness on the side of your house and this can penetrate into your home.

Soapy Water

A little dish soap and water in a bottle is surprisingly effective at killing most pests. By keeping it handy you will be able to spray any pest you see, allowing you to inspect the pest and confirm what type of pest you are dealing with.
