1. Choosing a wrong server

This is the most common mistake made by any beginner before even starting the game. You should always choose a small server to start the game. This will help you learn the game as there will be less competition. Once you understand the game and become a pro at it, only then go for higher servers. When you play on higher servers, your device can also lag. And all the players on the server are experienced which will give you fewer chances of survival.

Rust also provides training servers to all players where the beginners can learn the how-abouts of this game. The beginners should always practice here before getting into the real game. Players with no experience will be killed and the progress from the server will be erased.

2. Building premature bases

To die while creating your shelter can be the most annoying moment. As a beginner, you need to know the materials needed to build a shelter. You’ll also have to learn about the exact quantity of each item needed. You can practice this only at the practice servers because you need to build it quickly. In the real game, you’ll be shot in no time if you sit to learn about the bases.

Every rust server has its own map that is randomly generated and is variable to every server. Look at the map and try to find a place near to trees, hills, and roads. This will provide you easy access to the wood, metals, and other materials needed to set up the camp. If you set up your base far from these things, you can die in the process.

3. Getting door camped

Novice players can get door camped by other players. So, if you are a beginner and you open the door for a mysterious person, they can kill you with a spear or any weapon. To prevent this from happening, you can block each door with another. These are also known as door-blocking airlocks. On doing this, the other players will not be permitted to enter or exit the building. They will be trapped and will have to fight to leave the building.

Another thing to try is, light a fire to check if someone’s waiting outside your door. Check the comfort level. If it exceeds 50%, someone is near.

4. Tunnel vision

Your vision has to be extremely powerful to survive in this game. Every beginner takes time to become a skilled player and to have a vision of an eagle. As a beginner, learn to swivel to survive for a longer period of time. You can swivel by using the ALT key.

This will not change the directions but give you a 360-degree field idea to spot enemies or animals that can attack you.

5. Less sleeping bags

You’ll need sleeping bags to respawn. If you do not keep enough sleeping bags on your map, you’ll die or take longer to respawn. This can become irritating when you have to wait minutes to spawn miles away from your important resources. Instead, keep more bags and respawn quicker.
