Stay Hydrated
Of course, the most important thing to do when in the heat is to stay hydrated. Start by drinking plenty of water. That means avoiding sugary drinks, alcohol, and coffee, which all can actually dehydrate you. From the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed, you need to be drinking plenty of water. This is especially true if you are going to be outside for most of the day or doing strenuous activities such as working out.
Take a Swim
One of the best things about Arizona is there is no shortage of pools! From many homes having their own pools to community pools at residences like Sky Crossing, you can easily find a place to take a dip. This is going to keep you cool even on the hottest days.
Just make sure to always be safe around the water and keep an eye out for any storms. Arizona is also known for crazy thunderstorms that pop up throughout the afternoons on summer days, so always keep your eye on the sky.
Wear Sunscreen
When you are swimming or outdoors for any amount of time, always apply plenty of sunscreen. Not only do you need to stay cool, but you also need to protect your skin from the sun. On top of sunscreen, wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your head from the scorching sun. Keeping an umbrella on hand is also a perfect way to keep the sun away while still being able to enjoy Arizona outdoors.
Be Smart
It all comes down to common sense! Be smart in the heat and never go hiking in the middle of the day. If you are going to hike, only go in the mornings. When walking pets, stick to early morning and late evenings when the sun isn’t at its strongest. It is also helpful to make sure your home’s a/c is properly working before the summer months. Get a tune-up before and after since your a/c will be running overtime during the hot days.
