1. Get enough sleep

Sleep plays an important role in both mental and physical health. Sleep helps regulate chemicals that are important in managing our emotions and moods. On the other hand, not getting enough sleep may cause stress, depression, and anxiety. According to doctors, teenagers should sleep between 8–10 hours per night, and for older people, it is essential to sleep over 7 hours. Make sure you get enough sleep every night and get to sleep early. Besides, do your best to wake up at the same time every day, even on holidays and weekends. Follow this strategy to live a healthy and happy life.

2. Eat well

The food we eat not just affects our bodies; it is essential for our minds. Mineral deficiencies, such as vitamin B12 and iron, can make us feel downhearted while following a balanced diet can help us stay healthy and our brain function well. Limit or cut out caffeine if you feel anxious and jittery. Do not hesitate to try new foods, enjoy meals with your friends or colleagues, but never become obsessed with eating.

Always leave your phone out of your bedroom in order not to check it before going to sleep or do that first in the morning. Never have your gadgets near you during meal times. A good idea is to take up a challenge and spend a whole day tech-free.

6. Connect with others

Whether you chat with your friends online, eat out with your family, walk your pet, or simply say a friendly hello to a stranger, connecting with others can boost positive feelings. Socializing helps us ward off anxiety and depression, stave off loneliness and negative feelings. Whether you want to complete a puzzle, chat, or play a board game, never do it alone. However, be careful when you choose your surroundings. Prefer the quality of your friendships and relationships, not the quantity. Keep the connection going only if you feel happy, supported, liked, or loved.

7. Get help if you need it

It is a mistake to treat seeking help as a weakness. Remember that treatment is effective, and people who get appropriate care feel a lot better and lead happy lives. Whether you need to arrange an appointment with a professional or just want to have a chat with a trusted friend, seeking help is a mature, smart, and healthy thing to do.
