Here are the Best Action Movies that you need to watch in 2021. Most of these action movies are streamed by Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime Video is gaining charisma as one of the most attractive alternatives for its wide range of films to stream.

1.   Drug War (2012)

Starring: Louis Koo, Honglei Sun, Huang Yi

Director: Johnnie To

When drug kingpin Tian Ming smashes his automobile, he is detained and was pressured to assist the authorities in dismantling the local narcotics network. If he doesn’t participate, he will be sentenced to death.

Tian reluctantly accepts the offer to disclose the secret and break the faith of his crew, but he makes an unexpected decision that has a significant impact on the sting’s conclusion. The film is an important work of art and a powerful intellectual journey, and it’s a fantastic way to get acquainted with the amazing Johnnie To.

2. ‘The Fugitive’ (1993)

Starring: Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Sela Ward

Director: Andrew Davis

Dr. Richard Kimble, a man accused of murder even though he didn’t do it, says, “I didn’t kill my spouse.” “I don’t care,” says U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard, who is determined to capture this fugitive no matter how long it takes. Then, after Gerard has gotten the jump on his target, Kimble dives into the water off a huge dam just as Andrew Davis’ big-screen adaptation of the 1960s TV show reaches its thrilling conclusion.

It’s a lot of fun. It’s essentially one long, thrilling sequence after another, all of which is enhanced by Ford in his finest heroic form and Jones with his dry, grumpy humor (his recitation of “My, my, my, my,” etc., is priceless). When we saw it in a theater decades ago, the audience erupted into thunderous cheers after Kimble’s narrow escape from a prison bus. It still seems appropriate.

3.  The Last of the Mohicans (1992)

Starring: Daniel Day-Lewis, Madeleine Stowe, Russell Means

Director: Michael Mann

The two last members of the Mohican tribe, as well as their half-brother, Hawkeye, are caught up in a battle that they had tried to avoid during the French and Indian War. The three men helped the Colonel’s daughters, and a friendship develops between him and Cora, the eldest female.

Cora discovers more about Hawkeye’s culture as she learns about his people’s love for nature and the environment, which promises to set both of them aflame. However, the fights continue to rage on around them, resulting in more than they may have imagined as their friends and family are slain in combat.

4.   Minority Report (2002)

Starring: Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton

Director: Steven Spielberg

In the distant future, the Department of PreCrime seeks out murderers before they can commit their crimes.PreCogs, psychics with the ability to smell out criminals before they act, are used in this dubious form of policing.

But when the PreCogs predict that the department’s top official, John Anderton, will eventually kill someone, things take a turn. Anderton, desperate to prove his future innocence, must outrun the PreCrime Department as he attempts to discover why everything has occurred.

5. Unstoppable (2010)

Starring: Denzel Washington, Chris Pine, Rosario Dawson

Director: Tony Scott

When a train packed with hazardous chemicals goes amok due to no one being in control of it, it appears as though things are about to go wrong. A collision would result in an ecological catastrophe and the loss of many lives, while several attempts to halt the train failed.

Now, it’s up to a new conductor and a seasoned engineer to bring the train to a halt, and they’ll have to put their differences aside if they want to succeed. You won’t be able to put this movie down once you start watching it due to the engaging plot and two incredibly charming leads.

6. Apocalypto (2006)

Starring:Starring: Gerardo Taracena, Raoul Max Trujillo, Dalia Herna’ndez

Director: Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto appears to be an inaccessible feature film experiment set in the 16th century Yucatan (in what would later become Mexico) with Mayan language dialogue.

In this unfamiliar atmosphere, Gibson crafts an exciting action film that tells a recognizable narrative about a desperate guy trying to save his family. But he must defeat members of a rival tribe that is known for being ruthless and cutting through the dark jungle while fighting to protect his family.

7. The Abyss (1989)

Starring: Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Michael Biehn

Director: James Cameron.

The Abyss, which is directed by James Cameron, is one of the filmmaker’s under-appreciated films. It combines Cameron’s interest in underwater life with his talent for staging large-scale action. Three members of an exploration team go into the depths of the sea to rescue a damaged submarine, where they encounter strong, maybe extraterrestrial beasts.

To tell the story of the marvels of existence, Cameron employs cutting-edge special effects.

8.  Honest Thief (2020)

Starring:Liam Neeson, Kate Walsh, Jai Courtney

Director: Mark Williams

Honest Thief isn’t Liam Neeson’s finest action-star late-career effort, but it’s a good thriller with a consistently compelling performance from Neeson. Tom Dolan (Neeson) is a notorious bank robber planning to go straight for the sake of his new girlfriend Annie (Kate Walsh).

But the FBI agents who take his case want to get rid of him and seize his cash, so he must clear his name while also protecting Annie. There are some thrilling pursuits and heated confrontations, as Neeson conveys gravitas to the B-movie premise.

9. Jolt (2021)

Starring: Kate Beckinsale, Jai Courtney, Stanley Tucci

Director: Tanya Wexler

Kate Beckinsale stars in Amazon original Jolt as a woman with an unusual problem: she has intermittent explosive disorder, which makes her turn into the Hulk when enraged, leaving devastation in her wake. She controls her illness with a bespoke harness that delivers electric shocks, but when the first guy in decades she’s let herself, trust is murdered, she goes on a rampage to punish the perpetrators.

The film has a lighthearted tone and frequent absurd action sequences, and Beckinsale is fantastic as the misanthropic lead.

10. Fight Club (1999)

Starring: Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Meatloaf

Director: David Fincher

Edward Norton plays the nameless first-person narrator, who goes to support groups in an attempt to control his emotional state and get rid of his insomniac condition. When he meets Marla (Helena Bonham Carter), another phony support group member, his life appears to get a little less horrible.

He first joins forces with Tyler (Brad Pitt) when he is taken into an underground fight club and soap manufacturing scheme. The rivalry between the two men builds up to a dangerous point, as they engage in competitive rivalry for love and power.

Wrapping Up!

The action film never gives up, no matter how hard their luck is.

With Hollywood formulating a strategy to revitalize the theatrical distribution business and blockbuster films being pushed later in the calendar or streamed with major studios working on plans to resurrect the cinematic release industry, it will be difficult to find huge mainstream action hits to enjoy.

By reading this blog, you will be happy to know that there are many Best Action Movies that you can enjoy with your friends and families on long weekends.
