Difference between the film and the game

World of Warcraft (also known as the WOW) is a huge MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) that you might be more familiar with late. But it’s not the originator of the movie directly. Before World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment created a series of Computer strategy games set in the same fantasy universe.

The earlier history of World of Warcraft

Actually, these games were expected to be based on Games Workshop’s Warhammer fantasy games. But somehow, the deal went nowhere. For that reason, Blizzard had to create their own story. These Computer games were named Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness, and Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos.

So World of Warcraft arrives several years after the events of those strategy games. Specifically, it takes place nearly three decades after the launch of the first game.

So which one is this main one based on?

Simply, the first game, “Orcs and Humans”. Warcraft movie will tell the tale of how the Orcs, manipulated by demon beings named the Burning Legion, reached to the world of Azeroth from their planet, Draenor, for the first time.

They are space orcs?

Certainly! Well, they don’t have laser weapons or anything like that like other fantasy aliens, but the orcs of Warcraft come from a separate planet to the Humans called Draenor. A few orcs were contaminated by the demons with the word of power, and they persuaded their fellow orc clans that to survive (Draenor was a harsh world) they had to find and settle in another world.

With the guidance of a human traitor, the orcs, lead by the monstrous warlock Gul’Dan, created a Dark Portal that connected Draenor and Azeroth.

The skin tone of Orcs: Brown or Green?

Native Orcs are originally brown-skinned but the part of the method that brings the Orc clans unitedly under the thrall of the Burning Legion requires drinking the blood of a demon. This yields them enhanced strength and a kind of blood rage but also transforms their skin into the green. Yes, similar to the Hulk but with more continuity.

Ultimately, if any Orcs didn’t drink the blood—some clans opposed Gul’Dan’s plan and declined, similar to the Frostwolves. More on them in a while discovered their skin becoming green, just because of exposure to demonic power.

Aren’t all the orcs bad guys?

Nope! Just like every Human is not good (there is good and bad human) every Orc is not bad at all. There are a lot of Orcs who are good. For example, Do you remember that traitor guy I stated earlier? Also, Frostwolves are just one crowd of protesters who decline to drink the demon blood. They’re driven by Durotan, presented by Toby Kebbel in the movie.

Important characters in the movie

The cast of warcraft movie is reasonably split between two sides. They are the humans of the Alliance and The Orcs of the Horde. Here’s the central cast that we identify of so far, break int

..2.3o each side:

Alliance

  • Garona Halforcen (Paula Patton)
  • Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel)
  • King Llane (Dominic Cooper)
  • Khadgar (Ben Schnetzer)
  • Medivh (Ben Foster)
  • Lady Taria (Ruth Negga)

Horde

  • Orgrim (Rob Kazinsky)
  • Gul’Dan (Daniel Wu)
  • Blackhand (Clancy Brown)
  • Durotan (Toby Kebbel)

There is an Orc on the humans’ side?

Yes! Garona is a mysterious character. She first worked for Gul’Dan as a spy and was assigned over to Azeroth as a link between Gul’Dan and the human serving him build the portal. While she was there, Garona made friends with the Mage Khadgar, and she chose she wasn’t too keen on her master’s intentions. So she informed the humans about the coming Orc aggression and determined to fight with them. Like I stated, bad guys and good guys on both parties.

Aren’t there any other fantasy races in this?

There are, truly. But in the very first game, there were particularly two groups: Orcs and Humans. but later on more races were introduced:

  • Dwarves
  • Gnomes
  • High Elves
  • Tauren (a race of cow-people) and
  • Trolls

By the time of World of Warcraft, each side gained a few other races enter their cause, but they won’t be a part of the movie. And one more thing, there will be more upcoming sequel to this fantastic movie.
