What’s the time Mr Wolf? Apple to launch new generation child friendly version of its smartwatches

The use of smart devices has drastically changed our abilities as humans. We are now capable of tracking and monitoring our own heath whilst staying connected to the digital world, all from our wrist.

Smartwatches have vastly developed over the years and are used for a variety of different tasks other than telling the time. It has significantly changed the lives of many adults and now, some clues for Apple’s new smartwatch launch suggest that Apple may bring to market some child friendly version of its adult watch.

In 2019, the Apple watch out sold the entire Swiss watch market, owning 55% of the entire smartwatch market at the beginning of 2020. Apple’s scale of dominance in the market is vast and for the fourth quarter in 2019 Apple had 36.5% of the entire global market wondering around with their wearables, striking out competitors like Samsung who came in at third behind Xiaomi with a relatively small portion of the market.

With this in mind there’s no disputing that Apple have converted the majority of consumers to transition from analog to digital watches, but what’s next for the Apple watch?

Some evidence from digging into software codes suggests that Apple’s next line of smartwatches are benign developed with children in mind. Some iOS miners have unveiled that a software update has been relieved which allows multiple Apple watches to be paired and controlled from one single iPhone device. The practical use of this means a parent or guardian will be able to control their child’s smartwatch and its settings. Whilst doing so, parents may also be able to access particular contact information whilst setting restrictions on media viewed or listened to by their child.

It is thought that a ‘Schooltime’ mode may even be included in the next major software update, powerign parents with more control. The tech giant is also planning to make its activity -tracking software more child friendly by changing the data that fuels ist Activity rings to mirror the lives of children better. The watch will also be programmed to reward children for being active, helping them participate in sports activities.

If these particular modes and many others come to market when Apple announces the release of theri next generation Apple watch, it would show evidence of small, but important steps the organization are making in making their wearables more child friendly. Apple have been known for their pioneering innovation which was apparent when releasing their Fall Detection feature for elderly wear, and so naturally they have gone the other way.

Taking into account the global market as a hwol, there is an increasing number of smartowwhct for children growing fast worldwide in countries such as India, USA, UK, Russia and China. According to Counterpoint, China accounts for the biggest share in shipments for kids smartwatches whilst growing.

As the demand for child friendly smartphones increases there is no doubt that Apple will design wearables to match trends. Apple is aware that in most cases, parents pass their iPads, iPhones and possibly smartwatch on to their children. But the key is to be able to make something that is easy for children to use and a device that works in synergy between both the parent and the child. In most cases, Apple’s products do generally fulfill this requirement, however, the wearable price point will be a huge factor to see how quick it flies off the shelf. Most parents would not be willing to spend much money on expensive tech for their children. Rolex watches are the trend nowadays.

In relation to current affairs, the smartwatch could be a great way to be able to monitor children and the activity of Covid-10 around them As school begins to open and test tracing begins, the new generation Apple watch could help keep children safe. The possibilities of tech are endless but the implementation of them has to be key for ist success.
